I think you did well. I watch a lot of closet declutter videos and sometimes people only get rid of a handful of items. Personally I have no idea how many items of clothing I own, but it's definitely more than 74! I've decluttered my clothing twice this year but I know there are still things I never wear that I've held on to. Also love your hair, it looks great.
Thank you so much! It felt really great to get rid of these items. Even after 2 declutters I still have more than 74 items! I'm working on a closet inventory in Excel to record EVERYTHING I own...it's really making me question why I need 5 hats 😆
I’m have started this journey couple month ago I been selling and donating all my bits from clothes, books and house hold items and decor as I’m in process of selling my house I am looking forward to having a clutter free and breathable house with plenty of open space to think and enjoy simple things like a record player and vinyls and a radio rather then a tv as I find a cluttered house/ to much going on makes my mental health poor and overwhelming. This video was recommended and I’m so glad it was you have such a wonderful aura and I know you are going to become my favourite channel. I been slowing working my way though my clothes and having a brutal declutter lots of items I forgot I had or have kept in case I get my old body back but that isn’t going to happen 😂 i kept the basics and few statement bits and I have replaced a few I found in second hand shops I found some wonderful cotton clothes and better stuff that I can treasure for May years to come. It crazy how much we can hoard and clutter with out even releasing it I opened my mug cupboard and found 22 mugs! Just for me and my boyfriend insane amount I gave some to my work as we needed and only kept 5 favourite ones (one being a giant sports direct mug lol) I found creating a stock list of every item and clothing item I own helped me de clutter and showing me I have way to much it made me mortified to see how much I consumed in 4 years it also made it easier to be like ok I only need 2 jumpers not 7 and made me have a goal/tick list to what needs to go
Thank you for your kind words ♥️ Moving is definitely a great motivator to get rid of clutter...it sounds like you have your ideal life mapped out in your new home and it sounds amazing! And this comment couldn't come at a better time. I've started an inventory of all of my clothing, shoes and accessories. I hadn't thought to apply it to the rest of my house but I think this would be a great project. Thanks for the inspo!
It always feels good to pass along items like warm sweaters and coats to help those whose need for them is greater than our own. 🙂 Incidentally, Gillian, your hair is gorgeous! Greetings from Edmonton, Alberta.
Does the 85 include coats? I so regret be obsessed with my clutter. My soul mate kitty used to lay on my bed all of time with each of my declutter sessions. I could have spent that time with him and now he is gone. I hate shopping addiction and my clutter, it steals your life literally and time with loved ones.
I'm so sorry about your kitty, it's so hard to loose a beloved pet. From my understanding, it does mean coats and boots. Shopping addiction most definitely steals a lot from us...it's so hard when there are ads and opportunities to shop everywhere.
Do you feel like you learned more about yourself and your thought process from making this video? I imagine watching footage of myself decluttering would be interesting lol.
I definitely realized that I buy things for my "fantasy self" that I end up rarely wearing. Which ends up being a waste of money and makes me appreciate my actual realty less. And putting this footage together and realizing how much knitwear I have lol was pretty eye opening!
What is it with the extra harsh comments on this video - is it the channel name bringing out the mean minimalists? By RU-vid decluttering video standards, this isn’t even that many clothes. Most Americans have something like 40,000 objects in their house. Anyway, good luck on your minimizing journey. It’s nice to have a more streamlined space to live in.
Oh, no. Now you need to fold them again if you give them if you are going to give them away. Watching wondering are those skirts wool. A rug maker might want them. Silk, cotton, someone who up cycles clothes, or makes things from a mix of fabrics would love these. Linen. Linen. Linen for anyone who works with fabric.
While you are decluttering, and going through ALL of your inventory, do you sometimes feel that the time wasted schlepping and organizing is just a massive distraction from life? I do. That in itself makes me want to get my act together. 😜
I don't have those feelings. I feel productive when I'm doing something about it. But I do feel frustrated and upset about the amount of time and money I've wasted acquiring everything. And then the feelings of guilt about getting rid of it. That's been the main motivator for the no buy and the thing that keeps me going! I don't want to feel like that anymore.
Everyone is on a different journey. I have a large walk-in closet and have grown to not only fill but overflow the space. I realistically know that I have an unhealthy relationship with clothes. I don’t need and can’t wear it all, yet I still struggle with downsizing. I find this extremely motivating and definitely fantasize about minimalism and having a curated wardrobe.
@@angelaakbarpour8147 I'm so happy that you found this motivating. These clothing declutters definitely feel like a huge weight off my shoulders. I hope you we can both develop a healthier relationship with clothing.
You must be rich to be able to buy all of those clothes and shoes, never or rarely wear them, then just donate them. Hope you can stick to the no buy plan. Somehow I doubt it.
You are on a healing journey. You will make mistakes but as long as you get back up when you fall then you are one step closer. Give yourself grace and don’t ever give up. Negative comments or people who doubt you without knowing you are only a reflection of their own experiences. This is YOUR journey and as long as YOU believe in YOU then you will succeed. You’re doing amazing Queen 🫶
