fire towers suck, just make the fire siege unit, which have better damage, fire rate, more range, and stack closer together than fire towers. Ballista towers have horrible dps and AOE as well compared to impalers, but the only reason why ballista towers are useful in the final wave is that they have 2000 hitpoints which basically makes them into a wall unit, so why not build ballistas instead of walls. Also, their 13 range means they are the longest ranged unit in the game, useful for sniping off the ranged AOE spider nightmares which are the main threat. But for the regular nightmare masses, the fire siege unit works surprisingly well, with impaler AOE in back. You'll need gunmen to manually focus down the giants.

Balistas are acctually very useful for aoe when you don't have siege engines.

Just got to the final wave, for the first time.... Complete massacre. Used catapults as a mobile defense for the earlier waves, was really effective, but complelty overwhelmed against the final wave. Fun game tho.

Don't know but this map looks like premade one. Like editor or something like that. I guess the purpose of this video is just to show what you can expect if you survive until the final wave..and now iam afrait :D

I am at a point where I'm almost certain my gameplay strategy is optimized, and I'll get to the final wave, but the final wave always kills me. there's just too many giants and ranged spider nightmares to focus down, so they end up killing my siege units. There needs to be a better way of sniping off spider nightmares. great ballista only have 13 range, and the gun units only have 10 range, so if they are behind a wall, it's really hard to snipe off the ranged spider nightmares. Maybe in a future patch, there will be a longer range unit.

For the giants; always have at least two (preferably 3) towers with 4 sniper units in each with the critical cover advancement (the one that gives double damage when in towers). When the Giants arrive just wait for them to be in range of the towers and manually select each one to target the giant, thats your best bet for dealing with them. They're going to cut through walls like a knife through butter anyway, so make sure you have a grand ballista in front of the towers to soak some damage. As for the spider nightmares, just manually set your grand ballista towers to target them, they will go down in 2-3 hits and they usually group up so it can take out multiple if you target the ones in the centre.

I have become decent at the game and I can say a few things about final wave. focus on walling major choke points and put arbalest with stun upgrade to delay the damage to your walls. walling and layer walling choke points helps with forcing all enemies in one spot and aoe kill them with balistas and archer towers with the critical in towers upgrade to kill the massive giants. on final wave just focus on walling choke points, with archer towers,grand balista towers and balista units.

@@evilbankai5166 this, I just beat the final wave ( on easy) with this strat, I choked the spawn points and every choke point leading to my base. They only got to my inner most walls

Thanks for the upload... Looks super challenging, but it's just a zerg defense game. Once you do this, no reason to replay. I miss my Dawn of War 2 with Necron.

I have not played that one but They are Billions, Conan Unconquered and Alien Marauders. Usually it cost like 12 euros early acces and I get 20-80 hours of gameplay, does not feel like a waste. In this particular genre, the map reveals your defence and gameplay and that makes a huge difference against other RTS which are all very mechanical. They are all small game and are presented as such but there is definitely something to dig in this bastard 4x, RTS, base defence gaming genre. The higher difficulties is where these games shine, that pushes into the details and to develop a vision of the map. Of course it's not Warcraft 3 or Starcraft, it has no multiplayer and nobody is here to your hand through how you need to play with a nice build order. This is a beautiful genre, so far no other RTS that I know of came up to be that organic. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder my friend.

@@domurc omg, they push so many titles.... Yes! I meant Dawn Of War, dark crusade, any package they put forward in that! Loved it... Dawn of war 2 was crap! I actually love base building and thought they did it well! My bad! Wish tyranids was in DoW.
