Same here, in fact I'd say that basically every movie I've seen from Clint Eastwood(as a director) has been quite good to great and worthy of the occasional rewatch. The only exceptions I can really think of were Jersey Boys and 15:17 to Paris (which suffered by the odd choice of reenacting events using the actual people involved and not actors)

Of course, if you're the sort of person who thinks characters have to be 100% good or 100% evil then you won't enjoy it. Unfortunately we live in a world where a lot of Twitter activists dislike complex characters. So there's elements of negativity and discrimination about Walt in the film. But the whole point of the film is to show how he overcomes that and helps out his neighbour. Can't really say more without ruining the plot.

Normally this means a lot of noise etc, but with these movies it would always be a tense silence as we all looked to see what was going to move/be creepy during the “wheres waldo” type haunting scenes. Definitely something that doesnt work nearly as well sitting at home, but it was an amazingly fun group activity to see them in the theater. did you know that the hand written codes on the stickers from charity shops like wk3 10219 are like use by dates in a sense. they tell the staff seeing a a lot of the time staff is rotated when that item was out from and if its been out too long it gets reduced, put away for another time like when stock is short, or packed away and sent to another branch of that charity. So stock is refreshed, and things are kept interesting. Which can be difficult cause they rely on what gets donated sometimes there's a flurry of that one things sometimes not. It's not like tescos or other big places where they just order stuff in. Although some charity shops do have new stock like calendars, diaries, and some gifts but they are usually only seasonally available.

Gran Torino is an excellent film. Definitely recommend it, it was my introduction to Clint Eastwood. It's about a Korean War veteran overcoming his bias towards Koreans after an Asian family moves in next door to him.
@natsume-hime2473
@natsume-hime2473 3 года назад
Stuart I hope you see this comment. Gran Torino is a really uplifting story about a crotchety old man and a kid bonding after the kid nearly steals the old man's car. The old guy being bitter about Hmong Vietnamese people basically taking over his neighborhood, but becoming accepting through exposure. Meanwhile he teaches the kid to be a responsible adult and a good person. Also the ending will definitely make you bawl your eyes out. It's a damn good and underrated movie. Just in a bittersweet sort of way. It's definitely worth a watch, or 20. Despite Clint Eastwood's faults, he made a real gem with Gran Torino.

Regarding Argo: the "based on a selection" by Tony Mendez, he was a CIA officer, and his wife Jonna (still alive) was the CIA head of disguises. They both wrote some crazy books, and Jonna has done some really cool videos recently about her days at the CIA. That said, overall while Argo was a great film, in reality Canada did the lions share of the work in getting the hostages out, not the US as depicted.
