Definitely would rock. That was one that didn't look like anything special on the site, I lean toward dark/vintage bursts... on camera though, I love the subtlety of it.
@@Rand_al_Thor372 To be fair to Trogley he does go the extra mile when it comes to shipping guitars and always removes the switch tips... The guitar prior to the one with the broken tip I literally thought to myself " I'm surprised Gibson doesn't remove the tips for transit".
I have a late 2019 SG standard 61 in the stop tail. I saved up all my money from work and doing chores around the house and had enough to pay half of it, and my parents paid the other half. I'm so happy to have this guitar in my life. It's my #1, my baby. I hope to one day by an SG custom with three pickups so that itll have a friend
I personally am happy with more affordable guitars but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate that collectors do what they do either. I quite enjoy the history and stories of them too. That said I think it's cool he shows them and shares what he's curated about them. Cool collection. Happy Thanksgiving :)

Fellow Ohioan here. Just started learning to play and quickly became addicted to collecting guitars and pedals - albeit much less expensive ones than you feature in your vids. I love them as wall art. I enjoy your unboxings and your pure joy and enthusiasm for these beautiful pieces of art.
The joy you experience when opening the guitar boxes is called OOBE - out of box experience! It is a real phenomenon. Also, chevrons can be remembered as oriented like a Sargent's stripes since they are chevrons. Thanks for your show. I bought a 60th anniversary (2012 obviously) Fender Strat in sienna burst. The unburst finish seems to vary sooooo much in terms of color, ive seen some really pale ones and some really colored ones. Mine has quite a decent amount of orange and looks really good
Spot on, my 2019 unburst looks like a faded iceT with a shallow chevron pattern. I'm really digging mine, nice fit and finish and no damb weight relief! Has legendary sustain, love it!
you know, i envy trogly pretty much on a regular basis because since i was a small child i’ve had a thing for les pauls and enjoyed learning everything i could about them. i started playing guitar at 6 and i played my first les paul then. it belonged to a guy that ran the guitar store i hung out at. i knew then that i was a les paul and eventually i’d have my own. i’ve owned alot of them over the years and i have some great les pauls now. but trogly always goes after the interesting ones. i’ll be reading about one and thinking man i bet that ones nice. then i’ll see ol’ trogly with it the next days or so. i’ve always been pretty proud of my les paul knowledge but i have learned a few things from watching him. buying up these guitars was a great move. trogly knows what he’s doing. i can’t afford to buy guitars like that and multiple guitars as well. so it’s great to be able to see them on his show. i watch trogly everyday and sometimes i watch on and off throughout the day so i don’t miss an opportunity to learn something that i wasn’t aware of. i teach kids how to play and i give them their first guitar so all my extra money goes into that but it’s important to teach kids to play because that’s the only thing that can save music. if we don’t do something now music is going to be all digital with no band and no singers. i figure if i can produce 10 or 20 guitar players a year, it has to help get real music back. plus i love to see kids motivated to do something. when you hand them that first guitar and say it’s yours the look on their face is priceless. if you seen it once you’d be supplying guitars for them too.
I'm a player. I'm not worried about it having blemishes or dings cracks or dents. As long as it plays well, mechanically musically sound. Unless I'm buying something brand new, that doesn't matter at all to me. Resale value matters not, these are my guitars.
Trogly, doing so many of these you forgot. The Original Series in 2019 when introduced did come with the Canadian Made HSC. In 2020 remember you first noticing the change to the Chinese made Case, made a remark about the cost cutting. Easiest way to tell from a distance, the Canadian Made Cases have a "leather" wrapped handle, whereas the Asian made are just plastic. Great Vid!! Although..... 😂 I bought the heritage burst 50’s that sold first. Saw them post, slept on it and nabbed it. Then the shop sold out! Now I know who it was! I’ve got a video on that one coming.

I'm sorry I am 8:49 seconds in, Austin is talking about the "trolls" bitching about Gibson selling repaired guitars and guitars with issues for brand new prices - So you just paid FULL price for a guitar that has the finish checking at the nut...and that's OK? You sent back how many Epiphones because of that SAME issue? Seems to me that Gibson, and dealers, are just continuing down this path of " We are going to charge you a shitload of money for a defective guitar" that is driving people AWAY from Gibson.
Not implying anything about Trogly or any particular company's price, quality or value here, but there is a certain disposition that commonly perpetuates unwarranted brand-snobbery that exists in guitardom; I say unwarranted for two reasons. First, it leads some to often ignore QC issues by one brand and but then nails another not having the same "standing", for the same. Second, and as I've said privately a number of times...does anyone really believe that say, Epiphone, could NOT technically produce a Gibson-Custom-Shop-quality piece if they utilized the same craftsmanship, materials, locale and then in turn charged the same price? Of course the Gibson-Epi relationship is unique, but the point is there's nothing so unique about the big-name, big-price companies that corners the market for them on producing quality, beyond the established "brand". With that in mind, the guitar costing $6.0k should have NONE of the flaws a guitar costing $0.6K might, IMHO of course.

I think it's a great idea to unload all of these prototypes that will likely never see the light of day but otherwise play perfectly fine. I don't believe full price is the right price, however, as these are technically pre official production of their respective models. They should be marked down slightly for that reason alone.
Yeah, I won’t be buying one from him. I’ll bet he paid full retail for them (maybe he got a bulk discount, but I doubt it!). Which means if he sells any of them, he’ll have to charge above retail to make it worth his while.

I know I'm two years late, but I see them doing this release style as a pro-consumer move, they're giving somewhat more of an even playing field for other people who may want these cool instruments instead of JUST collectors.

I’m just wondering, why would you want Gibson to try to make 1500.00 a guitar more than what they are getting by selling these instruments for regular price instead of marking them up to 4000. Or even going to a auction format. Are you paid by Gibson. It seems ridiculous to want a company to charge more. We are supposed to want to pay less as consumers
I don't think that he's paid by Gibson, but guarantee that because of the reviews and the amount of subscribers, he probably almost always makes a profit when he sells them.
Nice to see them all. I don't usually bother watching people unbox stuff but prototype guitars , yes please ! Just a shame most of them will never be played .That's how to enjoy a guitar imo , not just hanging it on a wall or continuously circulating them for greedy profit. Just my opinion.
22:28 i'm such a sucker for the lemon yellows......... to me it's beautiful. i really like when they leave the back fairly natural as i think it matches better than the red or the darker stains. something like this is my current acquisition desire. once money happens.
Gibson puts these out at descent prices. Then Trogly buys almost the whole shop and then refuses to sell them separately. Asking 60k plus shipping. Not cool
Have to say they I agree with almost all of your comments on these prototypes. When Cesar calls and asks you to do a Trogley signature LP then I’m definitely a buyer of that model.
I'm pretty much both categories, I absolutely loooooooooove watching through all your videos learning more about guitar history than my teachers ever taught me any actual history in school, but I also really want good playing guitars. It's the best of both worlds, wouldn't hurt to have even just some beat up burst from back in the day though.

Damn, Austin. Do you know how many guitar guys and girls are envious of how many great guitars pass through your collection. Thank you for documenting all of the guitars you have done over the years. I always go to your videos before pulling the trigger on purchases I make in the Gibson world. I have a beautiful 20th Anniversary, sunburst, blues hawk I would love to have you review if you ever are looking for one. I watched the video you did on the Pelham Blue you did. It feels like a hybrid of an SG and a Les Paul. Anyway, great job and your guitar playing is improving greatly as well. One perk of the quarantine period I guess. Peace...
