What people also forget is that muskets back then WERE TOP OF THE LINE MILITARY EQUIPMENT. Civilians could own what the army was shipping out.

Kentucky rifles were superior even to them, and it's what a lot of marksmen used during the revolution. They used those arms for hunting and naturally kept them afterward. On the contrary the British weren't supplying their companies with the best equipment. Many of them were penal conscripts.

Exactly and the last chance for any real revolution was before WWI when a town knew how to and could forge their own cannons and muskets. The balance of power has shifted so far to the establishment with their drones and thermals and wire guided missiles.

Also, it isn't like the government of the time didn't expect guns to advance, they knew full well that guns will advance and become far deadlier then they were at the time. Also, as he said, a citizen could own a war ship. Look at the different trading companies of the 18th century, some had private armies larger then the British army. Imagine if a modern company was like that.

What makes me seethe when they say "I'm prepared to go back to muskets", is that that's a lie too. It's not like they suddenly become ok with the common man bearing arms when he switches to flint and black powder, go walk down Time Square with a brace of horse pistols tucked in your sash and a cutlass on your hip like Blackbeard, and watch how quickly the NYPD starts mag dumping in your general direction and into the crowd behind you.

Never forget that the Founding Fathers were well aware of full-auto weapons. The Chambers gun was shown to both Washington and Jefferson well before the ratification of the Bill of Rights. It fired 224 shots continuously for 2 minutes. It was adopted by the U.S. Navy. The Founding Fathers knew about machineguns. They still ratified the 2A.

A dumb person once said "The only weapons at the time were muskets." A smart person once said "Own a musket for home defense, just as the founding fathers intended. Four ruffians break into my house. "What the devil?" As I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle. Blow a golf ball sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbors dog. I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grape shot, "Tally ho lads" the grape shot shreds two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms. Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He Bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the founding fathers intended. "

The whole musket thing reminds me of a funny thing I came across when researching the history of the First Minnesota Volunteer Infantry regiment during the American Civil War. Their official history references the fact that as the regiment was mustered at the outbreak of the Civil War in the spring of 1861 recruits were allowed to bring their own fire arms. All of these men would have their fire arms be replaced with the standard issue smoothbore Springfield M1842, except for those who had brought the latest Springfield M1861 models, which were the new rifled versions of the earlier muskets, which were blatantly superior in terms of accuracy. This means that in the 1800's civilians weren't allowed to just own military grade weaponry, they were allowed to own better than the standard military grade of the time.
@aviowl
@aviowl 2 года назад
Military grade in the 1800’s was 1. Cheap enough to mass produce 2. Sturdy enough to give to the next person after the first is killed 3. Accurate enough for at least half the shots to hit a giant block of troops on the other side of the field Military grade doesn’t mean the best there is, it means it suits the needs of the role it’s used in

When ignorant politicians say that the 2nd amendment was "about muskets" we should educate them on the fact that in that era muskets were cutting edge military technology. Muskets were smoothbore long arms - as opposed to rifles which were what most individuals owned. well Brandon, some of us had 2 wins this week. Last Thursday, June 23 tf2 got an update that is a large leap in the correct direction. Now "Cat Hook" the software that was formally used to host "Bots" or machines that have aim bot has been crashing whenever someone wants to host bots. TF2 has been going through this problem, known by the community as "The Bot Crisis" for over two years now. this means that we as a community are finally able to play the game again.

It's funny that those people who try to say the 2nd Amendment only applies to weapons available at the time it was written forget that, aside from muskets, that includes canons, handgrenades, mortars, rockets, and a whole host of experimental rapid fire weapons, all of which can be far more destructive than your average modern semi-auto pistol.

@L1LegoAnimations
@L1LegoAnimations 2 года назад
@@Sauerbrew777 My stance on SBR's/SBS's is simple. I would bring a chart into congress with photos of different guns; some AOW's, SBS/SBR's, "firearms" like the 590 shockwave and then AR pistols with/without braces. If at least 60% of them couldn't tell me which ones are and aren't legal federally despite the minimal changes, especially considering they're the ones that write the laws on them, then how should they expect us, the American people, to understand it either? We can't all afford personal lawyers to constantly keep us out of hot water.

@TheAnnoyingBoss
@TheAnnoyingBoss 2 года назад
We really need to enforce the 2A because the problem is when every state designs it's own gun control the. It becomes impossible for us to travel armed without being lawyers and checking the laws every time before you cross a state border. Most people aren't doing that and they just "illegally" legally carry their gun into that state because it's not worth the hassle. That's why gun laws outside 2a endanger people. I can be in Texas and conceal carry with no permit but if I drive west to my home state, theyll get mad at me for doing that. USA is one country. I'm supposed to be able to conceal carry in all 50 states with no permits. It's clearly the only way. All these conceal carry laws are designed to make law abiding citizens appear as criminals. The consitution says shall not be infringed and conceal carry permits are clearly an infringement that is causing problems. Who in the hell doesn't want to conceal carry if they find themselves driving through a bad area of chicago? You shouldn't need a permit for that. It's already nearly a war zone
