Very smart setup! Surrounds are way more sleek than my Axiom surrounds. Mounting engineering is serious and you did fantastic. I might have to copy it for future projects hahaha....also had to use bare wires in my surrounds. Couldn't agree more about the crossover advice too! Always set it to small unless you have large floor standing speakers.

Nice, I have a pair of the MA silver 1’s paired with an old wharfedale SW150 sub as a 2.1 setup. Definitely found the sub is almost redundant after I moved to the 1’s & half chose the speakers for how great they look!

Your wall mounting system is great. This is one of those scenarios where if a nut existed that used the m3 hole but had a larger hex size would be helpful. Then you could get a wrench in there and use the nut to help cinch up spring toggle against the inside of the wall. Though it looks like using pliers worked no problem. It is a shame those speakers didn't have the same magnetic grills on the satellite speakers. Though in your situation it might just save you from inadvertent damage to the driver should it get bumped in a high traffic area. All in all looks great.

Wish I could do as good a job as you in hiding the wire in the wall but over here the interior walls are typically brick coated in plaster so I’d have to cut channels in the wall and replanted and repaint which has a very low WAF - in the meantime I’ve had to use exterior ducting which I don’t really like

Spring toggles are great, but those style are not really reusable as you often lose the back inside the wall when you unscrew. Instead I''ve more recently been using snap toggles which secure the toggle in place so you can take things down and back up without loosing the toggle.

I was always taught that the speaker grills are to to protect the driver from dust and dirt (and kids fingers) and they should be removed for use and replaced when not in use.
@camerongray1515
@camerongray1515 3 года назад
They aren't really designed to be removed and replaced regularly, the covers themselves are essentially acoustically transparent. It's really just down to preference from an appearance and protection perspective.

@@camerongray1515 I have to agree, I do like mine with the grills off, but have gotten used to covering them up when not in use, I also have the FX speakers, the sound from them is superb, if your amp/ receiver is capable of 7.1 or 7.2 you should defiantly have a second set of the FX speakers for the left mid and right mid position. The sound that envelops you in this configuration is just mind blowing, you would need to set them in dipole and swap the left and rights around for the best config but very defiantly worth it. My favourite movie to watch and test surround sound has to be original Jurassic Park, it’s only encoded in 5.1 but my receiver compensates for the 2 missing channels and it sounds fantastic.

I bought the same set but two pairs of the 50's - one for front and one for rears. 5.2 setup in all. One Klipsch R-12SW in the left rear corner and one BK Monolith Plus in the right rear corner. Both subs are controlled by a Minidsp 2x4 going into the Denon x3300W (soon to be upgraded to the Denon x3700H). I have however, crossed over all the speakers at 80hz. The crossover is very room dependant so if 60hz works for you, go for it. I would recommend two larger subs for a room like yours even though I'm not sure of the exact dimensions but it looks spacious. Love the look of your setup and I agree, they sound amazing.
@camerongray1515
@camerongray1515 3 года назад
Sounds awesome! I briefly thought about two subs but the room probably looks bigger on camera due to the wide lens than it really is, it's probably only around 4.5x4m or so then being in a flat there's a limit to how much bass I can reasonably have so I tend to keep the sub pretty low.

Hey Cameron! Really great video and very nice setup! But I do believe your receiver is capable of bi-wiring. You should check your settings and look for the option, to adjust the task of each amplifier. You can find that in the audio section of your receiver. You should be able to change the channels, which you would use for the Dolby Atmos channels, and change them to use those as extra ouputs in a bi-wiring configuration. But that is offcourse, if you would like to use that feature. You’ve allready installed brackets, for the speakers in the walls, but not with the extra cables in mind for a bi-wiring setup. But anyway, I just wanted to let you know, your receiver probably could do bi-wiring. Greetings. 🙂
@camerongray1515
@camerongray1515 3 года назад
It definitely is capable although as you said, I simply don't have the wiring in place to do it and don't feel like it would be a good enough improvement to be worth the effort of running more cable.

I also got myself the Bronze 200s and the 50s in the back (as there was a window behind me and no space to mount the FX). I'm really pleased with the 200s, they sound amazing, but now I need a new sub. The old sub is an B&W ASW610 (non XP) but I'm not sure if the BK Elec XLS200 are that big of an upgrade. I would love to go with the BK Elec P12-300SB-PR but I don't really have the additional space for it.

First of very nice Video! I have never seen bookshelf speakers fits so perfectly on a wall! I am also looking for new speakers and i am about to decide between the Audio Master Bronze, q acoustics 3000i series and Dali oberen series. What made you purchase the MA 50 bookshelf instead of the MA 200 floorstanding speakers for the front? And did you consider the MA W10 Subwoofer before? Best regards.
@camerongray1515
@camerongray1515 3 года назад
I went for the 50s mostly just from a neatness perspective since I could wall mount them rather than have them take up floor space, felt they'd look better in the room since it needs to function as a living room beyond just being a "home cinema". I did condition the W10 sub but ended up going for the BK due to the price as it was twice the price of the BK and apart from potentially looking nicer, it didn't seem much better on paper performance wise.

Hello. Great video, I've watched it several times since I too bought the whole MA bronze 200 5.1 set, having it installed sometime next month. I have a question. I can't figure out where you placed the FX speakers, on side walls or on the back wall? I've already prepared the inwall tubes on my side walls, since I read in the MA brochure it's one of the two possible placements. this way they will be about 170cm from the MLP, with only around 50cm from the back wall (which has the window in the middle). I do plan to add 2 height speakers then 2 more in the future. and one more question, almost related. 🙂since I'm still looking for the right AVR to match my MA speakers, I'm torn between denon avc x3800h and onkyo tx nr7100, any thoughts on which one is better? thanks in advance.

For a 5.1 system you'd generally want the rear speakers to be either side of the listener, maybe very slightly behind them but not by much. You'd only really put something actually on the rear wall with a 7.1 system where you'd have the regular surrounds on the side walls the rear surrounds on the wall behind the listener.

@camerongray1515
@camerongray1515 3 года назад
It could be larger for sure but at 49" it's not too small either. It's a wide wall at around 4m and I'm recording with a fairly wide angle lens which makes it look a lot smaller, I'm only sitting around 2m from the screen. I'll probably go a bit larger when I replace it in the future but at only 3 years old, I'm not planning on replacing it in the near future, will probably wait for even more affordable OLED.

@camerongray1515
@camerongray1515 3 года назад
For a large living room sure but mine isn't a particularly large room, maybe 4x3m or so. I could maybe push to something bigger but 49" isn't a problem. It's a pretty comfortable size that I can watch without having to move my head. Budget is also a large constraint, I don't have the magical "large tech RU-vidr budget" that others have 😜. When I bought my current one I was literally moving in so my budget was already tight given everything else I needed to buy. It was a choice between this 49" or a lower end 55", I opted for the smaller but better panel over the larger but lower quality one. Whenever I do upgrade I'd probably be looking at OLED which is mega expensive with large panels. I've almost been toying with the idea of a pull down projector screen that I could use to give a huge screen for the rare occasion I watch a movie and then keep a more sensible sized TV for most of my media consumption which is either RU-vid, TV documentaries or live news.

Huuuh im not getting why the tweeters on the sides. Would mess up direction right?
@camerongray1515
@camerongray1515 2 года назад
Those are the surround speakers where the idea is that they have a wider dispersion pattern so that the surround coming from the rear channel doesn't sound as "directional" and isn't as easy to pinpoint. With the surround channels you generally want something that sounds like it's coming from behind you to either the left or right but you don't want it to sound like it's coming from an exact, easy to pinpoint location behind you which can be distracting. Like everything with audio it's very much down to personal preference - some people will prefer regular monopole speakers as the surround but for me, coming from monopole surrounds to these, I quite like the wider dispersion pattern - sound coming from the rear channels is a lot less distracting.

@camerongray1515
@camerongray1515 3 года назад
To be honest I can't think of any actual reason why that would improve the sound, it's such a short length and the busbars are extremely thick and low resistance. It would be interesting to see but I'd struggle to believe it would make any difference. Yeah, I'm not really convinced, they just seems to be making standard unsubstantiated "audiophile" claims without any sort of explanation or scientific reason. They also just seem to take insane comfort by spending more money, like where they try to justify the metal bars being bad by mentioning that the ones included on $85k speakers are the same as the ones that come with $1k speakers. It's as if maybe the engineers that work for the manufacturer have worked all this sort of stuff out and deem them to be good enough quality. If you go fully down the "audiophile" rabbit hole you'll get people buying "audiophile grade" plugs, sockets and fuses, hell, you can even spend £269 on an "audiophile consumer unit" which is literally a £50 2 way Hager board that they claim to have "specially treated" - needless to say, things like this make me skeptical of many "audiophile" claims!

Yeah, thankfully it looks fine in real life, that shot was taken with a relatively wide angle lens from way further back than I'd sit. It's a 49" TV so while not huge is a decent size for the room (camera was in a different room recording through the door!). The wall is around 4m wide. I deliberately have the speakers far apart to give a decent stereo width and to prevent the area around the TV from looking cluttered. I've also started recently using a projector screen occasionally which fits nicely between the two speakers to give a 120" or so screen.
