Christmas carols while glassing was a great segment. I'm sure Squalo will exit the shed in near new condition. You 2 are moving into position as a favorite channel, glad to watch your fine work.

Those teak decks will be a work of art when you're done. I'm so jealous, but I also understand how much work you're having to put in to make them beautiful. Consider at least sealing all the edges of your marine ply with epoxy to keep the water from moving through the layers and rotting out the wood prematurely. I lay down epoxy on all sides and then varnish over that fully encapsulating the wood. I'm glad the two of you are feeling better, I love watching this project and you've certainly been missed.

I hope teak deck does turn out well. In places the groove is gone, however it still has some thickness to it to make a new one. Thank you for suggestion to seal the sides of ply. 🙏😊

Hi, as to the teak deck, you may consider a "Mozart Messer" for the final cleaning of the new grout. Good luck with regards from Switzerland. Silvano

Initially I thought you were suggesting the use of a sound track for final stage of this project 😁 I googled it, handy little tool that is.

You’ve certainly managed to get quite a bit done and it looks as strong as ever! I know exactly what you mean about big spaces turning into small spaces, a real challenge for sure. Thank you for the episode, it was very good!

Yes, I guess we need more long holidays like this in order to get more done than we usually do over the weekends ☺️ Glad you enjoyed the episode 🙌

You guys are a true inspiration! Simply seeing the image of the finished keel in your thumbnail bought a smile to my face. I think it would be fair to say, all your subscribers are quite proud of you both and loving the opportunity you provide by unselfishly sharing your journey. Thank you both for that 😀😀

It would be wise to have only electrical and mechanical / tool items in the technical compartment. That means not having any items related to water and diesel there, to avoid any potential disaster. Good luck!
@sailingsqualo
@sailingsqualo Год назад
That sounds wise, however there is already the diesel through deck inlet that goes straight into this exact technical compartment.

Loving your resilience and quality of work. An oyster is worth it. Cant wait to see how you progress this year. Cant your engine batteries go on the starboard side to help boat balance?
@sailingsqualo
@sailingsqualo Год назад
Thank you 😊 we don’t have that much space on starboard side, if we did move it let’s say under the bunk on starboard side in the aft cabin then we would have to run longer cables, also from windlass as they power that too. Gotta weigh the options and decide which will actually pay off. 👍

Wouldn't a small handheld router and a straight bit worked out easier for stripping the sekaflex from between the teak strips?? Also why is there epoxy under the teak?? Did they glue it down with the epoxy and screw it down?? If that's how they did it are the screws really necessary? Couldn't they after the epoxy dried remove the screws and filled the holes with teak plugs?? Just curious and thanks for always replying to my comments on your older videos. I was recommended your newest video shortly after you posted it and I seen you have a cool project that you're fixing properly and you both seem like good people so thought I'd subscribe and start from the beginning of your journey

Tried the router and it did more damage to the sides of the seams, it goes sideways very easily and in a split second makes a groove in the plank.. we'v seen a guy who did use router, he temporarily attached a separate plank of wood along the groove using nail gun, then using router and that plank would work like a guide so he doesn't go sideways we made those seams a bit deeper. It only worked in small sections since the lines curve and it has to be perfect as the caulking will highlight anything that has gone wrong. And to answer the rest of your questions.. 🤔 to be quite frank we were asking the same ones all along. If you fix deck with epoxy, why use nails as well.. makes no sense to me. Plus the thickness of that epoxy was pure madness.. BTW, no bother! 🙌 We love reading comments and suggestions from our subscribers. Sometimes it is a bit late to apply those recommendations and different solutions for the project at hand, but perhaps will come useful at a later stage. I am glad YT recommends us to folks like yourself.🤗 Awesome to have you here!
