This is how my RU-vid watching experience has changed over the years. I started out, roughly 12 years ago, watching makeup tutorials. I then added decorating & organization type videos. I had a brief phase of watching family channels. Next and I’m still watching, meal prep/cooking videos. Now I’m on to gardening. 😆😆😆

Use to live across from a beekeeper & we could tell how well the vegetable garden would do by how well his bees liked are flower gardens. Becky just giving you a little bit of advice from my own experience. The glass gem corn need to be planted by itself unless you have a large amount of land that you can put the glass gem on one end of your property and your sweet corn on the other end. If not it WILL cross breed with each other and not turn out ANYTHING like you think it's suppose to. You might want to do a bit of research on it first before you plant both in the same year. My crop of sweet corn and glass gem was ruined a couple years back. Just wanted to let you know so you don't make the mistake I made. Thanks for sharing your seed haul with us, you got some great things I've been wanting to try.

Oh I saw you got nasturtium seeds! you know you can eat those? both leaves and flowers are edible; very peppery! Great in salads, and so pretty! Also good in sandwiches. Plus the flower buds can substitute for capers.

Becky, Have you ever used Dixondale out of Texas for onions? I've had really successful onion harvests for several years purchasing, and direct planting onion starts from Dixiondale.

I order my onion starts from dixondale every year! This year I did the math on how much I will need to grow for a year and ordered that many! Such a great company!!!!

Ditto. I'm at 38.5 degrees latitude so onions are so hard for me, but their SuperStar is making an enormous difference, Two years running of excellent crops.

Borage has a nice cucumber flavor and the flowers are great frozen in ice cubes for pretty drinks or sprinkled on top of salads. Nasturtium blossoms are fantastic stuffed and lightly fried like squash blossoms.

Becky, I made your no knead dinner rolls today never have I ever made bread before and want to start to do it. It always intimidated me I can cook like no one's business but I can't bake so it scared me. Let me tell you they are sooo good and sooo easy thank you for giving me the confidence to try this and maybe venture out. I posted a pic on Instagram and tagged you in it.

I use empty pill bottles to store my seeds in give a label and date, free,less waste and saves me plenty of money organize inside a shoe box either cardboard or since i had plastic containers already for 1.00 a piece years ago i just repurposed a few. everythings getting so expensive so why not reuse what would end in a landfill somewhere, thanks for sharing your learning and knowledge so appreciated

We grow the Giant Marconi peppers. They are delicious. I am one of the cilantro haters. They smell and taste like soap to me. We grow everything in containers that my roommate builds. Out soil is really bad. I am also going to start a worm bed so I can harvest my own worm castings. I also use one of the containers for just flowers to attract pollinators.

I had to laugh when you said you can't believe you bought dandelion seeds. I had been on the Baker Creek site last month to specifically buy the pink dandelion seeds and somehow ended up buying Glass Gem corn. I don't have a vegetable garden. I grow things in pots on a small patio. I can't believe I bought corn.

Hey Becky! What kind of dishes do you use your dry beans for? I cook store bought beans for my family, but I typically do 1/2 pound to a pound at a time but that's the whole dish, so my question is: are the beans you grow prolific? I feel like I'd need 20 plants to get something to feed us all lol!
@marcidevries5515

It will take a lot of plants to get what you'll want for beans! But it's worth it. Fresh dried beans really do taste better than beans that have been bagged for who knows how long!

I'm really excited to see how you organize your garden this year. I've decided to make some changes to my limited space this year. I will not grow rudbeckia this year because it is too pokey and takes forever to bloom not to mention slugs LOVE them. Yuck. My shelling peas are just beginning to finish its harvest. I just put on a video and just shell them. They are time/labor intensive but I love peas so much!

I’m new to gardening and wanting to know how we decide how many seeds we need to grow. Are you purchasing a lot bc you are preserving a lot of this stuff? I’m in an apartment and I just don’t have the space to preserve so I want to grow what we can eat. I’m wondering if I should just start with one packet and figure it out for next year. I’m just a family of 3.5

That’s quite the seed haul Becky! Two tips for you to help with success are: Each variety of corn should be planted 100 feet apart to avoid cross pollination. They can in the same year so if you don’t want your sweet corn having characteristics of the glass corn (which looks ornamental and tough) I would be careful. Also, poppies need to be put into a dark cool area to germinate like a basement. Just do a bit of research. It’s a lot of work and disappointing when we aren’t successful. Love gardening, always something to learn! I am 64 and still a student and loving it!

Loved this! I am excited to join you on this journey. I'm itching to make a raised bed in the yard, it will need to be caged off to deter the rabbits and deer. I am all in on the container garden. I pray for less smoke this year during growing season. It deters bees and sunshine. My zone is 4b to 5a... unpredictable conditions.

The key to have a good pepper crop is ALWAYS delay with setting out the plants until ALL threat of frost has passed. They like it warm, and any cool weather will stunt their growth. LOVE all your goodies!
