A faulty update to cybersecurity software knocked computers offline across industries and across the globe Friday.
The company responsible, CrowdStrike, announced the issue with its Falcon tool had been identified and a fix had been deployed.
Only computers running Microsoft Windows were affected, not those running Mac or Linux.

You are so right. Alternate problem still prevents transaction. In SF 1989 earthquake (world series). Stores with lights and registers working COULD NOT OPEN because of broken glass everywhere. @@HiltonT69

Refineries use redundant power supplies. I don't understand why there isn't a redundant IT system in 2024. Redundant systems have been in place for decades, but as far as IT goes, their redundancy stops at mirroring hard drives, not the redundancy of the system as a whole.

They use mostly Windows in China in traditional Mandarin, there is no alternative to Windows, Mac OS is unaffordable to most (hackers don't target MacOS, because it's not lucrative to them, with maybe less than 1 % markets hare). It's just unreported. ❤❤
