Absolutely not on weager. So we trade one guy with a horrible contract for a better player now but has 6 more years at 31 years old with a cap hit around 7. What sense does that make unless Calgary is retaining half

Mika has 14 regular season 5on5 goals he has almost 300 shots for the season kakko had 11 5on 5 goals in 91 shots his conversion on 14.3 is higher then Mika’s at 11.8 and Mika is bigger defensive liability numbers don’t lie I get moving kakko but Mika has to go way to much money for a 3rd line player it’s Rick Nash all over again

Weegar would be good defensman add. Those are good stats. He makes a lot of money though. They might have to buy Trouba out if they cant trade him for that to work.

If there's a solid return for Kakko, I would do it. Not because I dont like Kakko, but maybe the trade and a new team/new environment might be what it takes to take Kakko to the next level. I think he wants to be a better player, but maybe the fit isnt right in NY. Just a matter of doing the right thing for the player and the team.

I am done with Kakko. I think it will be good for him to get a fresh start elsewhere. He played on every line but has no chemistry with anyone really. Looked good last year when he had a 6 or 8 game scoring streak. Hopefully he gets traded for his sake as well as Rangers.

Mistake to trade Kakko. Can move him at deadline and I think he wants to succeed in NY and will be ready and a different player in September much like Laffy was last year. Takes some time to understand the changes needed in the NHL. He had two unfortunate injuries in past two years and had to restart each time.

He’s 30 years old with 7 years left at $6.25m a year. That’s going to take away from Lindgren, Schneider, and Miller. You can’t sign all 3 and have Weegar eating up that much cap with term. You’d most likely have to sacrifice Schneider.

If they don't get a nhl ready prospect that fits whatever need need , may it be defense, a wing, center, then they should get some draftpicks to replenish the lack of picks the next fee years. Don't take on cap space if possible LGR

Yeah, I see big problems with that too. But when has that ever stopped the Rangers? Plus Lav has 2 more years on his coaching contract and you know he and Drury are going to roll the dice on winning the Cup in the next 2 years. One player whose aging and whose play has declined but no one is talking about (probably because we're stuck with him) is Mika... There's more but I'll stop now.

Finally, a great trade rumor to dispatch Kakko and Trouba…. throw in Sykora and you got yourself a deal. If I was Drury, I would try to throw in Lindgren (nothing more than a fifth or six defenseman on any team) too and get rid of all of the Rangers crap on the roster.

Please stop wishing that Reilly smith is a top 6 forward on a championship contender. when He was Not a top 6 performer last year on a team that did not even qualify for the playoffs. I feel the Rangers will live to regret trading away Kakko just like JT Miller and Pavel Buchnevich and Anthony Duclair before Him. Blossom once they leave NYC. Here's an idea , if Filip Chytil is healthy , Remember he won the 2C last year out of camp . Put him in the middle of Kreider and Mika on RW. That way Mika doesn't have to check every team's @1 Center and may revitalize his offensive game. Make the 3rd line an actual checking line Reilly smith in the middle of Will Cuylle and either Kakko /Othmann or perhaps sign Daniel Spring from Detroit ! Chitin's cap hit of 4.5mil is too high for a 3rd line Center and is not a natural wing especially on right side . Low cost High reward ✌🏒🏒🏒

I like a lot of what you wrote but before every Ranger fan gets too over excited about Othmann, know he stood out on his team last season for having the worst plus/minus numbers. It's not a sure thing he even makes the team this year no matter what that bozo Larry Brooks says...and later contradicts.
