Super excited about the audition scripts. The one found for season 1 between Nynaeve and Liandrin was spot on (“cold chicken”) so this bodes well. I think Rafe’s comment about the Seanchan accent really means they won’t sound TEXAN “but a strong nod to what RJ alluded to” meaning they will sound SOUTHERN. At least Suroth, given Rosamund’s audio reading for The Great Hunt. She reads Suroth with a “1860s civil war era Georgia southern belle” accent. And remember Seanchan is the size of north and South America combined, so there will be a huge range of accents… but Seandar, the empire’s capital, is located in the American Deep South” area of the continent (I did a map overlay comparison during Jordancon/FOMOcon) so this would line up for the High Blood. Also Pike’s voice work for other show characters (Perrin, Liandrin) is spot on, so I’m sure they planned for the Seanchan accent to be show-accurate during audiobook recording / season 2 filming.
Honestly the actress playing Chiad reminds me a lot more of Aviendha just based on Jordan's description (red hair, green eyes, etc.) than Ayoola Smart who's cast currently as Aviendha..
But at this point we know the ashaman will be ashawomen and there will be no dumais wells cuz the women will solve everything given how the show is going.there was literally nothinf like the books and its totally ruined at this point only reboot could work now
Let's talk about the Texan accent for a minute. It is most often overly dramatized in film. As a native Texan, I have spent years working with co-workers all over the US and none of them could place me as a Texan. Southern yes, but could not identify region. The emphasized drawl is seldom heard here, I have most often heard it in the Rodeo circuit. It is a shame that Hollywood continues to portray the Texas dialect as one of the 1800s. In actuality, the majority of Texans sound like people from every other Southern US state.
Id be curious to see if they explain the differences between the visuals of Season 1 and Season2 channeling during the girls' training as they're now beginning to see the weaves
The thing with the Seanchan speech is that while the accent is a strong Texas, the words are as formal as upper-class - imagine Austen, but from Austin. (I've no idea if the Austin accent is that strong, but the juxtaposition is too good to pass up.)
Ah... I do have an issue with Bain, Chiad, and Avendia's look. They all have long hair. All Aiel algai'd'siswai have short hair. And Maidens keep a tail in the back. Only the Wise ones, and apprentices grow it out which would have made a good character transition for Avendia. I'd also argue Elida IS evil; but, not insofar as devoted to the Dark One. She does a LOT of things that ultimately further the goals of The Forsaken, and weaken the forces of light.
I'm ready and hopeful for second season, Most of my issues with the show are things you and some other creators have echoed but the few times I make a comment about them I feel that i'll have the dragons fang marked on my forehead and be labeled a dark friend. :)

You know - I'm a big WoT fan - used to write a lot on Dragonmount. But I pretty much had given up on WoTTv after the S1 Finale was so terrible - wasn't even going bother to watch S2. But now, I do think there's some very legit excuses for why S1 was bad - Covid, Barney leaving, special effects final edits, ect... So the fact that they miiight get the Aiel somewhat right; and because the Dragonmount scene in S1 was actually really really good - I might give S2 Episode 1 a shot. I agree with you that the casting and the costumes have been very good. The acting has been good, but the writing decisions and special effects of the finale were - almost unforgivable. So my question for you, Nae'Blis, would be: how are they going to "fix" the fact that they wrote that Nynaeve can "heal" death? That's a screw-up sooo bad ... how do you have faith in the writers/leadership going forward at all?
I think you’re referring to Egwene at the end. Maybe I’m wrong, but yeah I didn’t like that. Supposedly, that’s not what they meant to show, but I find that suspect. But, what’s done is done. I suppose a line akin to “you were so near death, I’m amazed I was able to save you” or something far better than that could pull it off

It occurs to me, as a Marine brat, that maybe there's a subtle joke about the Seanchan and their accents many non-military and non-military family types might not get. So, the Seanchan are a mega-military power from the West, right? On Earth, there's a big ol' Mega-Military Power in the West too, isn't there? That's right, the U.S.A. Anyway my other military brat friends and I always used to joke about how everyone goes in to the military with whatever accent they grew up with, but tend to come out with a drawl. The Aiel maidens are supposed to all have short hair with a rat tail, and becoming a wise one is when Aviendha grows her hair out. When you have a story as fleshed out and detailed as The Wheel of Time there is no reason to change stuff. The entire reason the show even exists is because the subject matter is so powerful, so leave the subject matter alone!

I’m so conflicted hearing people say they’re excited about the upcoming seasons. Every opportunity to show us something to be thrilled about, they instead show us either a lack of understanding of the source material or an utter disrespect for it. Aviendha having dreads? Really? The whole point of the Aiel is that for almost 3000 years after they crossed the dragon wall they only intermingled with Aiel, so they’d all have pale skin (besides their tans) and red/blonde hair with I think two mentions of characters with black hair. Why cast someone who’s obviously not representative of how Aviendha should look? I watched all of season 1, but they lost me at 15min in when they had Mat’s dad out chasing another woman and his mom be a drunk; neither of them even cared to look after the girls and so Mat had to protect his sisters instead. How could they do that to a family that was so dependable in the books? Then Perrin was married and blindly kills his wife in some sort of battle rage? (I recently have started wondering if she was a darkfriend as in that sequence she was preparing a downward chop with her axe on a nonexistent target, unless you consider her target was Perrin himself. Maybe they’ll address that later?) Do they even care about the story at all? Sure seems like the writers/show runners just found something that was an outstanding success and chose to take it and rewrite it and expect to have all the original story’s success pass to them instead.

I really have no confidence in the show runners. Season 1 started well but ended horribly with so many terrible changes that were not better in any way. The last 2 episodes were particularly awful. And it started pretty well and the changes they made to the Whitecloaks were good. But the showrunners are more concerned it seems with pushing their agenda than telling the story. Also, Sheriam has RED HAIR. Why do they insist on changing the looks of the characters, it is really frustrating.
The only news I'm looking forward to hearing from Amazon's Wheel of time, is news of its cancelation. I'm still waiting for a decent on-screen adaptation of the Wheel of time, and that pile of trash is certainly not it.

They should make a show (i think live action cuz it would reach a wider range of audience and i want it too) live/animated with fans working on the project. Also see lord of the rings and game of thrones (season 1-3) so wheel of time could have been done nicely but wokeness destroyed the adaptation
@@winxclubflora8446 I agree with the sentiment of a live action series/show. But unfortunately, there really is no example of a live action series doing justice to a story this nuanced. Lord of the Rings has 1 major city.. Most of the city stuff in Game of Thrones is pretty bad. Kings Landing has its moments, but the WoT has at least 10 major cities... Multiple other major ruins/scenes showing the past... Etc... Trying to get a studio to commit to that much set design is not really possible.

How is that good casting? Honestly, really sad to see how you and Green ended up shilling for Amazon and Rafe when the first season was trash from beginning to end. Thought youd want to see things more true to the source.
Can we please just cast some average looking people instead of filling the cast with models? Idk, this is really nit picky, but it really takes away from the realism in my mind. That's what makes the casting for Game of Thrones so believable. Not everyone is a model.
How many named characters in WoT are actual uggos, though? Even Anaiya is only "plain", nobody is described "face like a skelped arse" or "bulldog licking piss off a nettle" until Graendal gets murdered and resurrected in a cartoonishly fugly body.
