Massive Wood Burning Fireplace with Stone! Napoleon NZ8000 High Country

In this video I bring you all along while I finish up the stone on my Napoleon nz8000 high country wood burning fireplace. I use my dewalt wet saw to cut every stone to fit perfectly. This fireplace is unique because to my knowledge its the only fireplace that has what we call a guillotine door and safety screen. Both of these slide up into the unit when not in use. This fireplace and hearth was installed to meet clearances so that you could have a wood fire without either the glass or the screen.

Really dig this fire. Pity they don't do a non insulated box so you could use it as a thermal mass heater and produce hot air indirectly.

Is it just like any other Masonry Fireplace where 90% of the heat goes up the chimney? In my experience they take the chill out of the living room but they barely make a dent in the temperature

This fireplace is not an air type variety, when the glas and screen are up it does produce quite alot of heat but once the fire is done you have to let it burn out before closing the damper obviously. What makes this fireplace unique are how the guilotine door and screen operate and it does boast quite the large firebox. If you were looking to heat with a unit I would recommend the napoleon nz3000 or 6000 those operate much like a wood stove.

I have the nz8000 specs. Wondering the width of the fireplace including stone. I only have 6 ft to frame the nz8000 and to install stone.

I havent had a chance to measure mine yet its somewhere around 7 feet but usually you want at least a foot on each side of the fireplace opening if you are doing stone
