Thanks for this video - helpful to hear several mb comps side-by-side like that...esp of ones that I don't currently own (like the API, DBX and Abby Road comps) but that are all within reach should I decide to add a couple. I think I preferred the API ...but that could have been just because the outputs were set a little hotter(?). It might have been a useful exercise to set all the outputs to the same perceived loudness (or as close as reasonable) in order to hear the comp better and not just be seduced by the volume. But I appreciate the idea of just grabbing some of the presets and running with them too (which is typically what I do as well). Do you typically do this exercise for each song or do you have one or two comps/presets that are your go-tos for each type of vibe you're going for?

Hi Dan, thanks for your comments. We tend to start with a default master bus comp [usually the API2500] in a template but then experiment with swapping it out for one of the other favourites. The perceived volume thing can be an issue admittedly but so long as you're aware of it not usually a problem...
