I remember wanting chiefs voice so bad but never getting it because i didn't play multiplayer or online munch, so getting credits was pretty much non-existent, never new the lines got that crazy
i mean, no shit he has tons of voice line, he IS quite chatty with those he likes, he ain't a soddin robot like the crap tv show makes out, he has one of the best senses of humour i have ever seen

Reach was the last great Bungie game. Always loved it. It got massively shat on at the time because there was no Chief in it, and people didn't like the "blooming" mechanic of shooting. But otherwise a masterpiece. I loved how grim the story was. But I like these sort of things, it's why my favorite Disney era Star Wars film is Rogue One. Best thing Disney ever did with the franchise, apart from the TV stuff (Mando).
Its actually pretty lore accurate, even by Bungie standards. I love that despite chief being designed as a vessel for the player, they've been able to give him a personality and character without impeding on that

@@bobbyshmurda6094 Master Chief Petty Officer, which is where the name comes from. As for who has rank, it depends. Operationally Chief was given rank in the field and only directly answered to senior officers such as his ship's commander/captain or at one point Lord Admiral Hood during the battle of New Mombasa. Ground and Marine forces had standing orders to assist Spartans in the field and defer to their leadership towards the later half of the Human- Covenant War. As far as I can remember Chief never took orders from anyone lower than the rank of Major, sans Sergeant Major A.J. Johnson and Lt. Commander Keyes.
@WhatIsSanity Even after the creation of the Spartan branch, Spartans IIs have always been ONI, and generally forego the normal command structure, reporting directly to Admirals like Hood, Parangosky, or Osman (a spartan washout herself).
I remember that on Reach it was hard to get the points to unlock his voice, you had to play matches and earn the points to finally unlock it, and boy! was worth the time i give to earn it! :')
I remember playing Reach before 1-3 and being so duped at who this firefight voice was. Like who the heck is "John"? Is he like some extended lore npc?
You unironically played Halo in chronological order, that's if you did play 1-3 pretty much after. Cause Reach(I'm sure you know this fact already)is a prequel game to the OG trilogy. So in some sense, Chief to you is pretty much "extended lore", though to everyone else, MC is the MC.
@@soksocks My original order was as scrambled as it gets 😂. It went Reach, ODST, 4, Infinite, CE-3, Wars, and I am still in the middle of Wars 2 with no plans yet for 5. They weren't actually my copies until I played Infinite so until then, I was just playing casually and knew next to nothing lorewise. I do know what order they occurred now though thanks to all the Halo content and lore videos
Afaik this isn't too far off from Chief's actual lore character. I remember hearing somewhere that he was known to be pretty jovial since it helped with morale, at least earlier on in his career (also mostly in books)
Yep to a point haha. A lot of newer fans may have started later, or really, a lot of people back in the day could never afford the old voice set back in reach.
I wish they put the Hispanic / Black Marine, and especially the Australian Marine Dubbos voice in Firefight, they would be fucking perfect for Firefight. Never too late @343... Also 1 or 2 new maps, i can hold out hope.
Right after (reach) we have Halo forward unto Dawn the film, in other words masterchief was active at this time, in other words it could be that some content from this was cut
