its basically the grip strength of a baby's entire hand, honestly.. i think a baby's grip strength is over 2 psi, so in an inch of movement, thats over 20lbs of force.. idk, im not a scientists.. but an average male *should* have more than 25lbs of squeezing strength in their index finger.. i do, and my hands are significantly damaged from military service.. these guys are..weak lol

fun fact: it's in the game files! it alongside many other fun classic and brand new weapons (as well as modified versions of classics) are sitting in the files and are being worked on, such as the brute spiker, a double barrel shotgun with a gravity hammer underbarrel attachment, and a banished carbine are all being worked on

The poor aim could be because of the height over bore. It's functionally an upside down shotgun, and so the sight picture would be better suited for shooting 9ft aliens in the chest rather than 6in clay pidgins.

It’s actually in theory more easily fired with reduced rise and the bore being so low. The reasons this example failed to hit clays are simple. 1. It has sights that were made to look cool. Not much else 2. It has an 18in barrel, very short for clay shooting 3. It was operation with a near cylinder bore choke setting. 4. Shooting is hard

I'm truly impressed with Nathan for making the shotgun. Yes. He could've simply repurposed a left-handed pump action into an upside-down shotgun, but it's actually much more complicated than that. The internal mechanism for a pump action shotgun has 2-3 times the amount of parts as an AR-15. For him to create a functional pump action the way he did is actually an impressive feat.

it also shows a problem with the armor. without a targeting system there's no way to get a cheek weld and use the sights... so your aim sucks. its not a knock on the designer of the prop above or anything but you'd have to be a really good point shooter to do anything with this weapon. edit: i wonder if the magnum would be easier? you don't need a cheek weld with pistols, and a small reflex sight would make it absurdly easily put on target.

Oh lord, did not expect to get noticed. First off, Hi. Love the content you do, aspiring prop maker ever since I painted and customized my very own Sticker Shock Resin Magnum. Genuinely want to make a play prop of the Halo Reach Target Locator and Reach Grenade Launcher, with a larger variant that fires T-Shirts (I know how ambitious that sounds for a novice like me)

A Target locator would probably be fairly easy if you knew what you were doing. You would mostly just need a GPS and and rangefinder jerry-rigged together to create an appropriate offset geo-tag.

the guy who made this works at a gun shop near me. really nice guy. has it on display in there, and he told me about it. i think the story was, him and his buddy were in boot camp together, and he told this guy "i bet you cant make the halo shotgun" to which he replied "i bet i can" and proceeded to sketch the blueprints on a napkin.

The shotgun is just a mossberg 500/remington 870 (most iconic/classic 'hunting'/combat shotguns in history, used by the us military, brits, leon in resident evil 4, etc. They flipped it upside down and attached a ton of plastic to bake a grabable trigger and pump. So, yes, it is the most generic shotgun known to man, it makes sense itd sound like in the game, since they used a generic shotgun sound effect. I see the comment saying the sound effects in halo are from a spas 12... the spas 12 is semi auto so i find that unlikely, though im not a huge halo guy. If i had to bet money id say they recorded or immitated an R870 or M500, which are, again, basically the exact same shotgun manufactured by two different companies.

@@HonorableAssassins the SPAS 12 has a pump action mode because it was intended to be used by police, who may use specialty and less-lethal rounds that cannot properly actuate a semi-auto gas mechanism

One interesting thing of note: the classic firing sound for the Halo shotgun was sampled from a SPAS-12, complete with that iconic background ping sound. Funny thing is the reason behind that sound is the bolt cycling, and since the SPAS-12 is a pretty chunky shotgun, the cycling sound is still very audible. But since the Halo shotgun is pump action, it shouldn’t be making that sound. Anyways, gun nerd stuff done.

If you really think about it; having the storage unit for the shells on the top is probably better than on the bottom for combat advantages. When you've used up all your rounds and you need to reload, it is much easier to go into cover and physically see what you're doing when reloading the shotgun and at the same time it is combat ready in case your cover is blown.

Honestly the mag tube on top just makes sense You get the barrel lower for less muzzle rise The loading gate is more easily accessible It just makes sense
