Excellent, as always. When I first started using DaVinci Resolve I didn't understand the limitations of Dynamic Zoom very well. Then I tried the Transform technique but got lost in the weeds. I got lost because the explanations I had seen were not complete enough. This video is short, sweet and very complete. Thanks, Daniel.

Right on. Yeah the dynamic zoom is very cool for one specific use case. Just a quick setting for 16 x 9 footage without having to add any key frames. Once you get used to using the transform option in the preview window, I think it’s a better Zoom option all around

Your videos are clearly so well thought out, logically organized, efficiently visually displayed, and completely and concisely explained. (Why don't ALL of the "explainers" follow your example ... and use simple arrows to POINT to "the button" to click ... rather than making us guess? Hi Daniel, I’m new to DaVinci Resolve and I have learned so much from you so far. I’m using it to edit my drone footage. I’d like you to do a video on color grading D-Log M. DJI has a D-Log M to Rec.709 Lut it would be nice if you can include that as well (DaVinci Resolve doesn’t have a CST for D-Log M). I hope you can help me out with this. I’ve watched other videos but you seem to teach better than others. Thanks in advance

Not really. Cropping is for removing parts of a video or image, not for realizing it.

Me too, Jason. I didn’t dive into keyframing as much as I could have specifically because I really wanted to focus on the zooming features for this video. (do you know my style, stay on target) That being said, I will make a follow up to this where I talk a lot more about keyframing and start referencing some of the more important features like the ease in, ease out functionality that can really make some of these motions feel much smoother

@@Daniel_Batal Definitely...I've used them mostly to highlight photographs, doing an extreme zoom in starting point with a slow pan out...but it's time consuming sometimes I don't bother.

I bought my license as a bundle with the speed editor because the price was great. But I’ve been eyeing the BM editing keyboard. The speed editor is designed to work with the cut page and focuses more on multicam footage

This is the reason I purchased the studio version one week into using it. The GPU acceleration absolutely speeds up workflow and it’s not available in the free version. So now your graphics card is actually working in your favor.

At some point, I need to do a video on the differences between the studio version and the free version. The problem is that blackmagic design does a horrible job of making that information available. And all of that changes every time they put a new version out 🤦‍♂️

Good Video! For me, this line where the keyframes are shown ( like at 14:41 ) isnt there, and i struggle to see my set keybinds, any help with that?

Yeah, I’m sorry about that. I’ve talked about this in previous videos and I sometimes forget that not everybody has watched my other videos. Once you’ve added a keyframe to any video/image clip or asset in your timeline, you’ll notice in the bottom right corner of that asset, two action icons appear. The one all the way to the right will expand the keyframe panel below that asset, which is the panel, I showed in this video. The one to the left of it actually controls the easing motions and deeper integrated positioning of how those keyframes interact, which I will definitely be covering in an upcoming video. I apologize if I didn’t make that clear enough in this video.

Pay attention to the Transform option and how to keyframe. In this video I used cars, but it's applicable to any portion of your footage. Learn to zoom in, stay zoomed in and zoom back out.

How to edit and get high quality video but the issue is I recorded video one with 4K 60 (iPhone )and one with 1080p (Samsung) So I have edited and exported but the video gets pixelated and get green patches on the exported video pls help

Thanks but you didn't cover ease in/out points. They're VERY important for avoiding the robotic zoom look, and something I personally have quite a bit of trouble controlling reliably - BM's implementation of it seems to be VERY clunky... or maybe I just haven't properly understood it. BTW if you do cover it, perhaps you could use less dynamic footage than the car race in order to see the subtlety of the effect. Cheers and luck to you. 👍

The ease in and ease out aren’t zoom features, they’re actually keyframe features, but you’re absolutely correct. It’s something that does need to be addressed and I’ll make a point of making a different video that covers keyframes more in depth.

@@Daniel_Batal I ended up going thru a some logs and nfo stuff w Customer service but none of that worked. I ended up updating my Nvidia driver and all audio returned to normal. -go figure! Thank you for the response. I love Zoom in resolve too!

It’s much easier than it used to be. From the edit page, put your playhead in the timeline on the frame you’d like to create a thumbnail or still from, go up to the file menu in the upper left, scroll down to Export and in the expanded menu to the right, select “current frame as still”. Then you can choose the file type and location where you’d like to save that snapshot
