I've been looking at Master of Orion at the FLGS and wondering if it captured the video game feel. Then last week I played Eclipse for the first time and realized that it really is Master of Orion, the board game. I miss those nights in the dorm playing over our LAN. Good times.
Shame on me for not being familiar with the original :) but the presentation of this game looks really good. It's hard to draw a line where simplicity/elegance trumps condensed detail with a smaller package, but thankfully I don't have to always choose ;)
I remember a 20 hour 2 player network game of MOO2. Got obliterated in 2 hours battle, definitely going to check this out...... I'm guessing you know by now it's 'Master' btw 😉😏
It's "Master" of Orion, not "Masters". The PC game was not about people who were Masters of Orion, but the race to become the single Master. Lovely review. Nice to watch, enjoyed it. But that fact irked me, and drove me to comment.
Yep I completely know that but yet I continue to say it without even realizing or hearing myself say it. My apologies. I said it that way over and over in the podcast too. I'm consciously trying not to pluralize it now.
I just opened my box and right away noticed the image mixup... that would have put me off too... still.. I’m willing to give this a chance. I feel that Eclipse is still the best MOO game so far. But if they ever do release a proper MOO 4X what will they call it? They can’t call it Master of Orion?! How about MOO?
You are the only reviewer that called it Morale. Tom & W. Eric Martin called it Loyalty. Either you have a greater attention to detail or they had a pre-production copy where it was called loyalty.
