I graduated at a secondary college for tourism. one of the subjects was service in upper class restaurants. one day we were taught that only 1 out of 20 unhappy clients actually complain on the spot. the other 19 just smile, pay the check, leave while greeting and never come back. the bad of the story: they tell their friends and others they had a bad time at the place which has impact on their opinion whether on going there or not. thus - a client not complaining about his (serious) issue is a big concern for every business. we were taught on how to approach a situation where a client complains and take the opinion seriously. sure, you cant satisfy everyone, someone is always complaining while the other is just perfectly fine with it. on the other hand - it's our job to have them a good time, so this is a goal never to be achieved, but to take it serious.
