Master Philip Rhee talks about his martial arts training and what "Black Belt" means to him to the 2013 Team Karate Centers Black Belt Candidates in Woodland Hills, CA.
Stephen Thompson is a 5th degree black belt in Tetsushin-ryú kempo and Lyoto Machida is a 3rd dan black belt in shotokan karate and they are successful Martial Artists in MMA/UFC
There are a lot of martial artist inside MMA.George Saint pierre for example.A gentleman inside and outside the cage.Phillip and Simon Rhee are awesome too.I grew up with best of the best movie
@@viciousreddragon7942I agree GSP is a respectful MMA and role model I also grew up watching best of the best the rhee brothers are awesome Martial Artists
Some might look at this and think "how cheesy...Snoooozzzz". But it's so important for kids/adults going for their black belts or otherwise. I know many other martial arts schools/instructors just go through the testing and totally avoid talking about what it means to be a black belt. And while many martial artist today place less importance in belts in this case I think it can be a tool. Makes such a HUGE difference to have an instructor like Philip Rhee (Simon his brother), Benny Urquidez...etc. Who are the "Best of the Best" in American martial arts. How fortunate it is for those living in LA and being serious about martial arts. For some reason most of the "top masters" happen to be located in LA. Mecca for martial arts. MMA, BJJ, TKD, JKD...etc.
Man I wish hollywood didn't give up on Phillip Rhee. Best of the Best should have had a way better sequel than what part 2 actually was. And those racist fuckers made Eric Roberts top billed actor just cuz he was known and he was white, but Tommy and James Earl Jones were the true stars of the original movie. He had so many more great action films he could've done. Poor guy had to scrape and claw to get Best of the Best 3 and 4 funded and made. Yes they were not good at all, but that's cuz Hollywood didn't have any faith in him for years by then.
