Ever wondered what it might be like to live in a dream home made of 95% off-form concrete on the waterfront in Palm Beach, Queensland? Well, this video gives you a little insight into that luxury lifestyle.
This modern beach house, designed by Shane Denman Architects, showcases the sleek, textured look of off-form concrete. The house features open plan living in the main areas with simple, velvet finishes.
Walking into the home, architect Shane Denman says, the house looks a lot smaller than it is. There are small vistas that give you a glimpse of the ocean views, but it’s not until you reach the back of the house that it opens up into an open plan living space which features panoramic views of the beach from almost every angle.
Shane says, “it’s aesthetically striking but not imposing. The beach is still the focus and the home works around existing mature pandanus trees. As a result the whole project is well balanced.”
Off-form concrete is usually made with high-quality moulds made from wood or stone, giving it a natural, velvet finish. The use of this material gives the house a modern, industrial look, while also keeping it neutral and subtle.
The minimalist home is the modern version of a beach side shack of old. With six bedrooms, three bathrooms, two powder rooms, a wine cellar, rumpus room, and three-car garage, the house is a testament to simple, sleek luxurious living.
