I wanted to say, I was having an impossible time germinating jiromaru spinach. your method has worked each time, and it works for plenty of other plants! I applaud you and all others that volunteer their time to share their knowledge. you're a champion! 🏆
I used to do that and found it time consuming. Now I put the seed in the soaked oasis cube, sprinkle vermiculite on top and cover with another tray. Give it a try! Thanks for the videos...
I learned this technique from you last year and it's worked for us in Texas perfectly! Thank you for sharing all the tips and tricks, especially for the hard to seed ones! The new calf is just darling! ❤
Just wanted to say thank you so much for sharing your experience!! I almost gave up on sprouting spinach seeds, but with the technique that you used Ive been able to successfully germinate 95% of seeds. Even 3 yr old seeds that was put away and forgotten. Again, thank you for helping all of us out!!!
Thanks so much for a great video. I’ve often had issues with spinach and looking for all the help that comes my way. My first attempt with your method is just finished and can’t wait the the results. Once again many thanks.
Tried your tip for my soil blocks. 1. It showed my spinach seed was only abt 10% viable. 2. New seed proved to be nearly 90% viable. Took the sprouted seeds after 36 hours and placed in my 1 1/2” blocks and they are growing great! Thanks for the great tip, 😊😎@@HomegrownPassion
I have two high tunnels and I am finding that temperature control is difficult. Can you talk about that topic and how you decide which plants are suited for the greenhouse verses high tunnel. Also do you have bug pressure in your high tunnel? Thanks. Ron from Washington State.
FYI How do you know if hydrogen peroxide is working? This is to check a bottle that was previously opened, and this is how you check whats left as H202 degrades after a while. Is there a way to tell if it’s still good? Hydrogen peroxide is a pretty reactive substance, so there’s a simple way to detect whether it’s still good. Simply pour a little of the liquid into your sink and watch to see if it fizzes or bubbles. If you don’t notice anything, it’s likely no longer good.
Hello from Australia - Yes, Spinach can be frustrating. Could you though clarify for me some detail. I buy H2O2 at 35% Food Grade but I imagine you are using 3% Food Grade ? Also, is your cup size nominal 250 ml ? Your 1 oz though has me guessing - how many ml is that. Sorry, I am fully metric and male and I don't cook which is likely why I am unclear on the 1 oz. How many ml. ? Love your videos and always look forward to them. Best regards, Altos.
Have you ever tried to germinate strawberry seeds? They seem to have very poor germination.. Peroxide is an antiseptic so should control fungi like damping off caused by pythium.
