That’s a wonderful way of germinating seed. You don’t waste a grow cube that way. Love it!

I wanted to say, I was having an impossible time germinating jiromaru spinach. your method has worked each time, and it works for plenty of other plants! I applaud you and all others that volunteer their time to share their knowledge. you're a champion! 🏆

Your appreciation means a lot to me! I'm grateful for the opportunity to share my germinating tips with you.

I used to do that and found it time consuming. Now I put the seed in the soaked oasis cube, sprinkle vermiculite on top and cover with another tray. Give it a try! Thanks for the videos...

I don't have a greenhouse or nursery. I do have a grow light. How many hours a day do the young seedlings need after they are placed into the cube?
@HomegrownPassion
@HomegrownPassion 4 месяца назад
It's great that you're using a grow light for your seedlings! Typically, young seedlings need around 14-16 hours of light per day for optimal growth.

Just wanted to say thank you so much for sharing your experience!! I almost gave up on sprouting spinach seeds, but with the technique that you used Ive been able to successfully germinate 95% of seeds. Even 3 yr old seeds that was put away and forgotten. Again, thank you for helping all of us out!!!

Great information how long do you let them sit under the grow light when they are germinating?
@HomegrownPassion
@HomegrownPassion Месяц назад
No grow light just under cover till they germinate then under lights to grow

Tried your tip for my soil blocks. 1. It showed my spinach seed was only abt 10% viable. 2. New seed proved to be nearly 90% viable. Took the sprouted seeds after 36 hours and placed in my 1 1/2” blocks and they are growing great! Thanks for the great tip, 😊😎@@HomegrownPassion

My channels are from CropKing and they are 3.5 inches wide. Most of my seeds come from Johnny Seeds

I have two high tunnels and I am finding that temperature control is difficult. Can you talk about that topic and how you decide which plants are suited for the greenhouse verses high tunnel. Also do you have bug pressure in your high tunnel? Thanks. Ron from Washington State.

Will this trick work with tomato seeds? Keep the vids coming! Jim from Napa CA
@HomegrownPassion
@HomegrownPassion Год назад
Yes, it will but we get pretty good germination in the rapid rooters, so we just use them.

FYI How do you know if hydrogen peroxide is working? This is to check a bottle that was previously opened, and this is how you check whats left as H202 degrades after a while. Is there a way to tell if it’s still good? Hydrogen peroxide is a pretty reactive substance, so there’s a simple way to detect whether it’s still good. Simply pour a little of the liquid into your sink and watch to see if it fizzes or bubbles. If you don’t notice anything, it’s likely no longer good.

Hello from Australia - Yes, Spinach can be frustrating. Could you though clarify for me some detail. I buy H2O2 at 35% Food Grade but I imagine you are using 3% Food Grade ? Also, is your cup size nominal 250 ml ? Your 1 oz though has me guessing - how many ml is that. Sorry, I am fully metric and male and I don't cook which is likely why I am unclear on the 1 oz. How many ml. ? Love your videos and always look forward to them. Best regards, Altos.

Don’t worry about her cup size has nothing to do with the vid topic 😂😝

Have you ever tried to germinate strawberry seeds? They seem to have very poor germination.. Peroxide is an antiseptic so should control fungi like damping off caused by pythium.

Never have... we just buy bare root stock...

Does the hydrogen peroxide tip only apply to spinach?? Or does it apply to all seeds??

I t will work on all hard to sprout seeds.

Wouldn’t soaking the cubes in hydrogen peroxide solution have the same result?
@HomegrownPassion
@HomegrownPassion Год назад
I suppose but you still don't get 100% germination with this method so there would be cubes that are wasted.
