Entertainment industry non-profit Road Recovery presented a Master Trax Event with Grammy award nominated recording artist Dave East (Def Jam Recordings) in his hometown of Harlem at Ea$t Co.
Dave East had a conversation about his life journey with youth involved in Road Recovery's Trax Program attending from Graham Harlem Beacon at the Mahalia Jackson School (PS/MS123) and those youth impacted by gang violence and affected by the criminal justice system from BronxConnect's Release the Grip organization as well.
Road Recovery’s Trax Program with BronxConnect Release the Grip (RTG) South and the charity's Road Trax Program at Graham Harlem Beacon at the Mahalia Jackson School (PS/MS 123) are once-a-week after-school programs for at-risk youth and young adults impacted by negative influences including poverty, drugs, gang and gun violence and the criminal justice system. The private event was held on July 13, 2023 and took place at Ea$t Co (396 West 145th Street, Harlem) owned by Dave himself.
Master Trax is a “Meet & Greet” with industry masters. Taking place within the framework of the Trax Program they are once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for our program participants to hear from Road Recovery supporters and advocates within the music and entertainment industry. These all-access experiences provide something incredibly unique. They open their eyes (and minds) to the possibilities and opportunities available to them by hearing first-hand from people who have not only lived what our young people are going through but have thrived and succeeded in achieving their career goals.
Road Recovery’s seasonal Road Trax Program for Graham Harlem Beacon at the Mahalia
Jackson School PS/MS123 is supported by the NYC Department of Youth & Community
Development.
Road Recovery's seasonal Trax Program for BronxConnect-Release the Grip is a program partnership with the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center (MMCC) and supported by the Opioid Affected Youth Initiative (OAYI) from the U.S. Department of Justice / Office of Justice Programs.
ABOUT ROAD RECOVERY:
Established in 1998, Road Recovery is an entertainment industry-driven non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping young people battle addiction and other adversities by empowering at-risk youth from all backgrounds to face their struggles while helping them develop healthy coping skills, communication skills, and life skills.
Guided by music and entertainment industry professionals who have confronted similar life struggles, and with support from the mental health field, Road Recovery’s action-driven programs provide mentorship, performance workshops, and “all-access” opportunities for a community of motivated peers to create and produce live concert events and studio recording projects.
ABOUT DAVE EAST:
Buoyed by an unbreakable flow, undeniable hooks, and uncompromising vision, Dave East consistently asserts himself as a 21st century Harlem storyteller. He upholds the narrative tradition of his neighborhood through a combination of elite lyricism and deft songwriting. After grinding with one acclaimed mixtape after another, 2017’s seminal Paranoia: A True Story notably bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 and spawned the gold-certified “Perfect” [feat Chris Brown]. In 2019, his full-length debut album, Survival, reached the Top 15 of the Billboard 200, marked his third Top 10 entry on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart, and boasted collaborations with Nas, Gunna, Lil Baby, Rick Ross, The-Dream, and more. A year later, Karma 3 continued his hot streak, boasting his most-streamed single to date “Handsome” and picking up acclaim from NME, Office, Billboard, Clash, and more. Along the way, he also linked with Styles P, Harry Fraud, and DJ Drama for projects. Shining on screen, his filmography spans roles in Being Mary Jane, The Breaks, and Wu Tang: An American Saga. 2023 saw him level up again when he garnered a GRAMMY® Award nomination for his appearance on “Rent Money” from Mary J. Blige’s Good Morning Gorgeous. However, Dave East kicks off his boldest, brightest, and biggest era yet in 2023 with more music and the next chapter of his unbelievable story.
