Hey Swimmers - I believe that EVERYONE can swim without fear and with 100% confidence. We just need to maintain our comfort levels and learn to eliminate fear. You see, it is our engrained psychology of fear that is preventing us from learning to swim / learning to tread water, it is not our inability physically or incorrect technique.

This is how I lost weight on my thighs 😂! I would swim 6 laps slowly and practice treading water like this. I would float when I got tired and start again. I then started treading water like this WITHOUT using my hands. That really worked my thighs! I have a friend and her husband is in the military. He showed me how to do it with my hands behind my back just kicking 😂. I’m older and I hate running so swimming year round is my favorite exercise. Swimming is a wonderful exercise as you get older, especially if you have arthritis or joint problems. If I’m in pain, I swim and the pain goes away or it’s much better.

@@caribeswim thank you! i’m most fearful when i mess up the breathing portion. i think i start to freak out when i get water in my mouth or push air out my nose too quickly before i’m ready for my next breath?
@caribeswim
@caribeswim Год назад
Hi Bri - that can certainly be the case. We really do not need to be exhaling air from our nose or mouth at the early stages of learning to breathe. Most instructors WILL teach TO exhale but my perspective is slightly different. I think the COST of exhaling is far too great on our buoyancy so I believe we should learn how to master breathing first, then gently start introducing that technique much later in our learning or when we are 100% comfortable. ---- Keep reporting back! Thank you for commenting and teaching kids to swim. The techniques to teach children are slightly different than those we use to teach adults - for kids, i recommend starting ALL kids who cannot swim in a Limmy's flotation vest. Thank you for your comment and background. We are in San Juan PR - we do host retreats here and have an online community to help adults learn to swim. The truth is, EVEN if you can swim from A > B in shallow water... if you cannot do that in deep water then that program did not teach you how to swim. Swimming is when you are in control regardless of depth. --- This IS the most common issues adults face when learning to swim. Learning how to swim technique / strokes but knowing how to be relaxed during the entire process. I recommend joining our free community - we teach you the process of how to relax that you can apply to your lessons in NY or you can restart at the beginning with our program! --- You can join Here: www.skool.com/caribeswim/about I hope this helps! I see you are talking about flutter kicks, this looks easier than egg beater kick, then why is egg beater kick for threading getting a lot of hype? Most threading tutorials I see suggests it even thought its hard.

This is a GREAT question! I believe that the community are NOT separating the difference between "Learning to Swim" & "Competitive Swimming" - I think for 95% of the community, we are looking to learn how to swim for recreation and enjoyment + survival in case of emergency. I believe the MAJORITY of instructors are from a competition background and their knowledge set is in how to teach the competitive / optimal way of doing the techniques. --- I was a record holder at Notre Dame, National Masters Champion but MORE than that, a swim school owner for 12 years so I have the expertise of BOTH sides and through all of that experience, realized that there is a BIG difference and we need to learn what is easiest FIRST, then what is optimal [for those who want to know more]. In order, I would watch: 1. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uhp9vJyDR1o.html > this will teach you HOW to learn 2. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bPd6BOhGQzc.html > this will teach you WHAT to do while learning. --- Hope this helps! Treading water for a longer period is just this technique?
@caribeswim
@caribeswim Год назад
Hi Ruthuel - we believe that ANY length of treading should have a basis of relaxation and this is the easiest technique to continue for a sustainable period of time. At the end of the video it also shows a simple technique of leaning more backwards - this FOR SURE is the best

@caribeswim Год назад
Hi Glowiever - welcome to the channel and thank you for the comment. I can understand how it may seem this way, however, nearly all adults actually are just lacking a true deep breath, prior to finding their buoyancy. You can see the impact of this in this short video: ru-vid.com0nO-t8bvds0?feature=share --- Begin with a Diaphragmatic breath, then we have to ALWAYS ensure more relaxation, not effort. Check out this video to learn more details: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bPd6BOhGQzc.html --- We offer free 15 minute consultations to discuss private coaching as well.
