I know this is how you’re supposed to do that, but watch that buzz roll at the end. You couldn’t make his hands look any more relaxed. What a guy, just phenomenal.
Yeah I noticed that too at the end he just kind of lets it drag across the head that’s actually the way your guys used to do it in the Dixie land bands
Yeah, regular buzz roll as opposed to a double stroke roll. But for the latter one, check his super long and HEAVY double stroke roll at the beginning of Sting's "Hounds of Winter". I think there's a clip of it as well, guess it's the Sting Colaiuta promo one.
vinnie has a coolness behind the kit that's rarely seen these days, dudes a mastermind and he looks like he's thinking about what hes gonna order from burger king
Let us all keep in mind that while there were microphones on the drums, they were for the recording he was doing; not for this video that we are watching. It's not a mic'd up drum kit, AND STILL VINNIE SOUNDS FANTASTIC!!! ***Plus it looks like he was just going over his drum part in this candid video, NOT trying to impress us observers with one of his brilliant solos or with his chops! He is just such a tremendous drummer!!!
Right! I think he’s never been on to impress anyone. He’s all for the music, but in any musical context he is playing, we are gonna be impressed. What a master mind!
That Buddy Rich Memorial concert not burning for buddy. This was the one they had back in the late 80s and it had Vinnie colaiuta Dave weckl and Steve gadd doing a drum off I've never seen anything so amazing in my life. Steve gadd is one of the greatest drummers of all time but Vinnie colaiuta took the Limelight that night. That's what he was using Yamaha drums to me those are his best sounding drums and the soner drums he use with Frank Zappa on his second tour with him. What I mean he's been with an incredibly reliable and one of the oldest drum companies around and they absolutely make Exquisite drum sets they always sound great right out of the box and that is Gretsch drums. I really want that Brooklyn series Gretsch drum set with 4 ply Maple 2-ply Poplar. I've already got the freaking Brooklyn standard snare from Mike Johnstone! I love that silver wrap they put on the inside of their snares, not too sure exactly what it is I thought maybe it was a piece of aluminum. But that's there is an absolute Marvel. I'm using two different skins on it one is the the Remo controlled sound X and the Evans heavyweight inverted dot. I've also got two others there's and I bought them not too long ago a guy had brought to Gretsch snares into Guitar Center and one was a polished and hammered brass silver series Gretsch snare And he had a Gretsch silver series black steel snare. I'd like to get one of their COB snares. I just heard that there's not too many people that can make a better Chrome over brass snare. I would love to get a bronze snare just an absolute gorgeous one like Danny Carey. I seen a phosphor brass snare that is absolutely gorgeous.
That’s silver paint on the inside of Gretsch drums Gretsch has always traditionally painted the inside of the drums shells silver I don’t know if this is for acoustic reasons or just because it looks different It’s not a “wrap” though it’s paint silver paint I guess they’re still doing that I know the old Gretsch drums from the 60s were painted silver inside
Awesome video Thanasis! Where was this one recorded! I love the small Gretsch kit and that beat up Paiste Traditional China … so cool! Great footage my friend! 🤘🏻you rock!
But Cardi B rapping about how to keep her p***y from stinkin after sleeping with a load of different guys gets somewhere. Lmao. Crazy people out there these days. Hopefully it shifts back to talent again soon.
Fuck fame. The computers have taken over anyways. If it doesn't sound over processed, over saturated, over compressed, over edited it won't get anywhere.
