Thanks for sharing; next week is our first IEP meeting and I know there is a list of about 5 people that will be in there with us. It’s overwhelming to think about all the information we may receive. But I’m hoping it will help my daughter.

Sadly, it’s only a large group if you’re lucky. My daughter’s first was just me and the paper pusher. No one else showed up due to staffing shortages. 😢

Are there free advocates for low income families in California?

I’m not sure about totally free, but here are some suggestions. sbcadvocates.com/services/ (based in South Bay Southern California - you can ask about their work with low income families) www.riseeducationaladvocacy.com/ (April does parent education all about IEPs, so even if you might not be able to afford an advocate, you can learn as much as you can about it. Follow her on social media also, because she posts a lot of good information)
