The gray wire on the Spektrum Firma 100 amp Smart ESC that you see on the battery connector is for telemetry data. This wire is used to transmit information from your ESC to a compatible receiver or telemetry-enabled device, allowing you to monitor various parameters such as battery voltage, temperature, and current in real time. If your battery doesn't have this wire, you won't be able to utilize these telemetry features unless you use a battery that includes this capability.
