“Small towns give a will and keep the fighting spirit inside you alive. I was born and brought up in Lucknow. The city of Nawabs and the mecca of delicious kebabs. I grew up experiencing a beautiful culture, that time and beyond shaped my personality. My grandfather used to take me to Gurudwara every Sunday. I came across a section where they used to cook langar and I found my comfort there. One day, I was asked to cook because the lady who used to cook ‘Gudh wale Chaawal; (Jaggery Rice) had gone to visit her mother. I was really not confident but I had lived it every Sunday for so many years. The repetitiveness of experiencing the langar being made so many times, it subconsciously made a divine impact on me. So, on that Sunday I cooked my first dish ever and since then I’m fondly called a ‘Langari!’
A small town boy who went on to become the youngest executive chef in India, at the age of 25.
