@@StarloGetsReel Steve, watching this video and the one on Lake Macquarie surprised me. The systems seemed to be really healthy compared to about 20 years ago. Older, larger fish and more of them. Thanks! I’ve had a good run from the 8-carrier version of Shimano’s Kairiki braid. It doesn’t wear as well or last as long as PowerPro, but it’s thinner, more supple and better suited to “finesse” applications such as lure fishing for bream, trout, etc.

Great viewing Starlo, thank you. What is your view on using heavy leaders like 8-10lb and still getting bites? Or would you prefer to go as light as conditions and terrain allow for?
@StarloGetsReel
@StarloGetsReel Год назад
Thanks! I believe you’ll usually get more bites the lighter you go, but there’s no point going so light you start losing lots of fish. I regularly use 8, 10 and sometimes even 12 pound leaders on bream in really heavy country. I accept I’ll get a few less bites but I’d rather hook one and get it out than hook four and lose them all. 👍
