Admirable talent and creativity Sarah. I am a bird in flight photographer who some times wants to take nice portraits of the family. I have found it challenging to get the right lighting in portraits. Do you have suggestions for a simple lighting setup to photograph 1-4 people outdoors and another for indoors?
@sarahedmunds
@sarahedmunds 9 месяцев назад
hi@@AlexTroyaSD thanks so much for watching and for your question. To kill two birds with one stone, I'd suggest the AD300Pro with a collapsible softbox for that light. This is portable enough to take outdoors and powerful enough for a studio look indoors as well. For portraiture, studying lighting patterns so the shadows fall nicely on the faces. I teach Godox lighting at photography conventions and sometimes do workshops so keep an eye out!

Hi Sarah ! I'm a big fan of your work. You're beautiful, I love your creativity, you're using simple words to make great things look simple. You're a really a great teacher. This direct was as awesome, Congratulations! Now, I know that it's possible to shoot groups with one light in small softbox. When you go for a project like your disco shooting, how many hours do you use for your settings? I love your results, but it looks like there is a lot of brainstorming behind each of them. Keep going. Best regards,

Great stuff. I'm a documentary/street photographer just getting started into portraiture so this was timely. Question for the 3 point lighting you were showing with the wedding - what lights were you using there, AD200pros? And were you bare bulbing or did you have some sort of diffusers on there - it didn't seem like it, but I figured it'd be good to ask.

Sarah your work os outstanding, what modifier would u recommend to use on a flash Godox v860 111, (on camera ) to soften the light , resulting in less harshness on faces at event ( engagement wedding events ect )photography , thank u Vasili

Hi! Thank you so much and thanks for tuning in. I use this flash at weddings, and my favourite way is simply to point upwards and use the pull out reflector card that is in built in the flash. If on camera I use TTL minus .3 to 2 stops depending on whether I’m triggering off camera flashes as well. Using the bounce card in this way makes the light much softer and acts as a fill light balancing with the ambient (my camera settings at receptions are on manual and I make sure the shutter speed is allowing plenty of ambient light in). Hope that helps xxx

I am beginner in photography. I bought a used Sony A7s2. New 24-70 2.8 lens. How much power flash would be enough to shoot outdoors? I would be doing street photography and portraits. I would want to take this flash with me easily and during travelling. Should I go for on camera flash or off camera flash This would be 1st flash that I would buy. What are your suggestions for flash? Also suggest soft box and tripod (either camera or flash would be tripod as I can hold only 1 thing) for travelling.
@sarahedmunds
@sarahedmunds 10 месяцев назад
Hi and thanks for tuning in! How much is enough… it depends what you want to do! Do you want to just fill in shadows or overpower the sun? As you are starting out, I would suggest natural light for street photography. For portraits, off-camera flash provides the most pleasing results. For your first flash you could try an on camera flash and use it off-camera as well with a trigger like the xpro. This way the first light doubles up as both on and off camera light. Then if you find you need more power, you can try an ad100pro, ad200pro or ad300pro depending on how much power you feel need (see my first question) and how portable you need to be (the lower power lights are lighter and more portable). I think any of these would be enough. Then if you decide you need real power shooting outside in bright sunlight, you can graduate to a bigger, more powerful light like the ad600pro or even ad1200pro! (I recommend you get very comfortable with using off-camera flash first). As regards softboxes, for portability the ad300pro comes with some great pop up softboxes. Sorry for the long answer, hope it helps!
