Thank you, thank you, thank you. As a working pro that is the main thing that totally flips me out. You see “pro” wedding photographers, portrait photographers, event photographers. All doing that!!!! Love your channel.

Spot on 👊 When I was starting out my buddy/mentor, a retired commercial photographer, gave me this mantra : the subject is the most important part of the photo but the background is more important....after a few "mishaps" I've never forgotten it.....he arrived at this idea after his job in a major department store as part of the window dressing team. The store was famous for it's windows...."we always started with the background"....so I guess we need to reverse our thinking : background first. Cheers from OZ

Its a good point and also a personal bug bear of mine. I think also as a follow up the the poles coming out of heads i would argue that clipping off toes or ankles should be avoided usually as well.

Most of the times, I see the missed aligned tree after the image is already on the roll.

Instead of the phrase 'don't forget' ie what you don't want them to do - substitute the phrase 'remember' which is what you actually want them to do. Remember is far more powerful. Using "remember" positively frames your message, encouraging proactive engagement and fostering a sense of importance. Conversely, "don't forget" implies potential negligence, creating a negative tone. It's my pet rant. I love your videos, so helpful. Hope this helps. Try it for a week. Whenever you see the two words 'don't forget' replace them in your mind with the one word 'remember' and feel the difference.

This is wonderful advice, normally I'm feeling less frisky but for some reason when I filmed this I was in more of a rant mood than teach mood ha ha.

@@AskMOTT Most people default to 'don't forget' but there is power in our choice of words. I developed my first photo when I was 12 and have been taking photographs ever since. During lockdown, I learned to fly a drone and now have a commercial drone pilot licence. As I approach my 77th birthday, wish I had taken my photography more seriously. We are never too old to learn if we choose to. Take care and keep up the great content Justin.
