Logic def harsh, ozone I felt that the guitars disappeared slightly. Masterplan felt full and “in your face” in a good way. Considering the mix wasn’t being changed it definitely felt like it had been. Great video!🔥
I'm on Ozone 9. There's tons of tweakablity and options there. Masterplan seems cool but very limited. I might be partial just cause the AI & Presets aren't half bad for starting points in Ozone. It's all about customizing in Ozone where most people think it's just AI mastering lol It sounded best to my ears as well. Cool track.
Yeah I like the ozone 11 version more. The low end hit you in the chest in a good way yet it was as clear as the master plan version. The master plan version was too clean.
Ozone does almost all Master Plan does, plus some 100 other things if you need it to. There's no way you can compare these. That's why Ozone costs a lot more, because it gives you a lot more, too. You really have to tweak it (like removing the excessive low end) like you did with Master Plan. That being said, I like Master Plan for simple moves on the mix bus before the song hits the mastering stage.
Logic Mastering improves my mixes, is simple to use, built in and free. By this time next year Apple will improve it (Customize the curve, be usable on individual channels and will own 51% of the market.
Ozone definitely crushed the mix too much to my ears and made it less dynamic, and gave it a smiley face EQ which I really don't think the track needed.. Torn between LMA and Master Plan. I did quite enjoy the brightness LMA added though Master Plan definitely preserved the character of the mix the most and a lot of the processing was very subtle. I like the width Master Plan added.
I have the updated Master Plan and Ozone 10 Advanced. It's very close between the two but I have been using Master Plan more. The only advantage I would give to Ozone is the fact you can use the individual modules on mix tracks which I use quite a bit. If someone is starting off in mixing, the Ozone suite has a bunch of useful modules to cover a lot of bases (dynamic EQ, saturation, limiting, spatial tools, etc). Logic mastering is mediocre but would work in a pinch. They should definitely give you more options on the eq to make adjustments.
I don’t think there’s any limiting or compression in terms of dynamics processing but there are varying opinions about the file compression and therefore quality (a slight reduction if any). I’d have to rip the audio off RU-vid and do a null test.
@@EdThorne Its totally fine. It’s because I am from Europe and this kind of music it’s not easy for me. It’s like Italian tarantella or German folklore for American ears. Almost Dixi. But was a great review. Now I know once again, that I not need Ozone. It’s ok. But with gullfoss and some other stuff, it’s not needed. I like Your Channel. It rocks.
country is perfect for asessing all frequencies - the space and the airiness..... for that, I love it. "bleeding ears?" seems you;re liek an angry noob, rather than an impartial, non biased, sound engineer, that deals with frequencies" rather than his own insecurities.
