It's using vertex painting you can have a total of 5, the base and then an extra mat for R, G, B and Alpha
@PEMGILRAT
@PEMGILRAT 6 месяцев назад
@@liamlacey278 I managed to create a blue print in where I can use as much as layers I want but coming in package of 4 by using an ID color mask on each package. (So layer one would be 4 different materials controled by 1 ID color map, second layer would be the same using same RGBa. Right now I have a total of 16 materials, all using 4 different ID color map, this allows me to control resolution and not need to worry about pixel ratio and pool streaming memory. Give it a try it is using the layer function in the graphic blueprint.

The only problem with this video is that you not telling the people that they can paint only on one instance of this plane. Unless they disable nanite. Because nanite does not support custom vertex painting across multiple instances of the same mesh. And without nanite vsm become very expensive. And without vsm and nanite there is no point in using ue5. So this engine is a trash. Like it was specifically made for this kind of video's and have no practical value. Because making good performance on this engine is impossible and the amount of limitations is exceeding the benefits from the tech that you get.
@PEMGILRAT
@PEMGILRAT 7 месяцев назад
What do you mean we can only paint one instance? If I clone the the plane across the scene each one of them will have their own unique slot for the material instance , no? Then each material instance will have its own unique parameters or vertex paint. I have to say I'm not following the same path as the video ( I create my own material layer system) that allows up to 20 unic materials mapped by unique ID color maps (these are the one painted with vertex color. It works pretty well for me. I only have 20 materials in my project, but many different ID color maps for the same object with gives me a lot of variety in the scene with the same object.
