I appreciated your approach on eq. The natural tendency is to try to boost the feequencies that don't seem present enough, when the issue is typically with overbearing frequencies that are burying the ones you want to hear. Backing off the offending frequencies will reveal the hidden ones.

A good initiative. How about starting a sage membership for dialogue/voice over professionals? How about a curriculum based , custom made training program for dialogue/voice over professionals? This could be the first of its kind !

Oh Man! Exactly what I was looking for! I do have one question - in a previous video, you did subtracted EQ first then additive EQ down the chain - I did not see additive EQ in this video? Where should I put additive EQ in the mix? Or just leave additive out of the mix for dialogue?

In music recording, some or all of the Instruments are EQ'd to seperate the instruments from one another as much as possible. They do this with a so get as well. I would imagine the same is true when adding a voice over to an already mixed trailer. In this way, the trailer can be loud and punchy while the VO can also sound loud but clearly seperated in the mix of the trailer.. I'm currently doing voice over challenges on tik tok. I'd like to integrate my voice as much as possible rather than just ha ing me be a bit louder than the trailer. I suppose I could dip the middle and high range of the trailer or do the opposite with my voice. Any suggestions not covered in this video?

Excellent tutorial! Just one question: let's say you follow the tutorial and your integrated LUFS at the end of this chain is -14 LUFS, but you need to reduce it to -23 LUFS for TV, radio and film. What is the best way to achieve this? Turn down output gain on the master channel? Reduce the level of compression and/or limiting? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Hey Jim! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Great question - I'd say a mixture of both. If you've used heavier limiting to achieve -14 LUFS, it'll be best to turn that off when trying to achieve -23 LUFS. This way you aren't truncating your dynamics and/or causing some distortion to your signal. Take a look at your signal chain and see where the signal is being amplified - if any of that extra amplification isn't necessary, try reducing the output of these plugins. For example, if you increased the output of your compressor to achieve a louder signal, turn this output back down if the extra level isn't need. Also, try to keep the amount of compression similar, since having controlled dynamics will still be important. I hope this helps! SageAudio.com

I'm using microphone BM 800 and Soundcard V8 Taffstudio (my cheap budget XD). can my vocal , getting similar mastering like your voice ? or It's depend on the device (like headphone mixing or microphone for studio) and self-skill mastering ? (my apologize, for my bad english :D)

For a mastering ie final polishing for use there's some slack editing and extra video/audio near the start. These things happen but hope you're now attentive on the job ;) Actually....a pretty vague, hacky mess. Random leftovers for dinner anyone?

Depends on how you use it....i don't generally use one and it is veeeery easy to damage your recording irreparably. The settings suggested here are very gentle though but...use with caution.

They may not need it as there might not be fan noise, hum, etc in their recordings. Plus, if the room is isolated there might be minimal outdoor noise being caught by the mic. Someone in an apartment or noisy areas, with all kinds of devices making noise might not have the same luck. And once they use compression for example, all those noises will be brought up as well, making them very noticable. Having this said, all mics and recording devices have self noise( some more than others) so if they don't use a gate, what do they use? I sometimes use iZotope's RX very gently but it depends alot on the recordings.
