When Asami starts out saying 'This is Us' she means it. When Miyako wrote this song the original title was 'Lovebites'. The title changed, but the story of 5 young women, fighting to make their way in a male-oriented music genre - while preserving their Respect and Femininity - is a true and continuing Statement of what these ladies are all about.

Miyako raising her hand at the start of the second part of her solo was the way old school shredders would signal it was their turn to show what they got...Oh, no doubt, she got it!

The ultimate stage general Asami is. She may be 4' 10", but she is larger than life on that stage. The vocals and musicianship of this band is off the charts. Every song is an incredible experience with the uplifting lyrics really hitting home, and many times emotional as I reflect what they mean to me. First Miho, now Fami...all wonderful human beings. The song was originally composed by Miyako as an anthem for the band. The working title was "Lovebites". Lovebites had gotten a lot of peoples' attention with "Shadowmaker", but WDA raised the bar. A lot of commenters were skeptical anyone could play this live. They've proven the skeptics wrong, again and again. This will always be one of my favorite Lovebites songs. Then again, my favorite Lovebites song is usually the one I'm listening to.

thank you for this great reaction and for sticking with them. this was a special show. in the first two months of 2020 almost all cultural events in japan were cancelled because of covid. then they were allowed to do this show in march 2021 under heavy covid restrictions (the audience was not allowed to cheer and every second seat stayed empty). at that time they didn´t know, that this should be the last show for two years and the last one with bassplayer miho, who left the band in august 2021. and miyako was in the second trimester of her pregnancy at that show.

the instinctive reaction when you hear complex tracks like lovebites does is "good luck with playing that live" but with these ladies you know they actually pull it off every time - if not better!!!

Great you gave whirled_peace a shout out. They are as relentless as Lovebites, in posting lyrics 😀 Your smile is as good as words and it is easy to get caught up watching the video and forget to comment. I wonder how many bands could play the M&M solos and duet parts, live as they do in this song? The speed of the song makes it dumbfounding they can keep in sync, so well. Somehow, Haruna smiles while playing what must be a frantic work out! I remember drummers from the 70's who would be dripping in sweat playing three Lovebites songs, let alone a concert worth of frantic drumming. There is definitely something in the water in Japan. 😎
