@kyldy Without a doubt, that is Jake Hess. They used to come to perform at our church (where my father was the minister) when I was a child in the early '80s. My father was friends with Hovie. He was a lot of fun, as were Jake Hess and J.D. Sumner. Rosie was so warm and sweet. I loved James Blackwood's voice but he was never as warm as the rest. Hovie used to let me wear his "TCB" necklace. As a 9 year old, I thought that was awesome. :)
yes ..... if you talk with Jesus changes everything If Jesus is going to talk to okay In the trials here, I always found That Jesus will speak with fine I love my savior Jesus!
~~~I love it. I haven't heard this song for such a long time. Thank-you for sending to me my dear friend. May God bless you also listening to it again, as it did me. ~~~Love Ava~~~
I got to see the Masters V in 1987, Sadly J D Sumner stayed in the bus sick from having teeth pulled. It was great to see the other 3, but was just not the same without a Bass Singer.
This is a wonderful song , thank you Pap Wirtz for introducing good music to my life as a young toddler . I love the old songs of that had so much impact on my life.
I got to play this song on piano with these guys. Hovie invited me up in stage and said it was my turn. I was SO nervous. At the end I swiped the piano keys all the way up. Hovie was standing as I left the stage waiving a handkerchief over the piano bench saying, “Don’t do that! These men aren’t used to that type of ending. Lord knows they’ll need an oxygen tank before the night is over!!!”
gave my heart to Jesus as a 7 year old at a revival in Detroit in the 50's. Now nearing 70 he is still my Lord and Savior............talk about saving keeping grace!
And if you want to hear a blessing, do a RU-vid search first the man who wrote this song. Written by Rev Cleavant Derrick with his family singing along with him. He wrote this song & others like “We’ll Soon Be Done With Troubles & Trials” (that the Happy Goodmans did, and “When He Blessed My Soul” that the Masters V & the Gaither Vocal Band did, and “When God Dips His Pen of Love in My Heart” that the Gaither Homecoming singers did.
I am quite sure the man next to JD is not Jake Hess. However what a treasure with James Blackwood and Rosie! Hovie Lister on the piano! hope he can play it in heaven
I'm confident in saying that as a Christian, Rosie Rozell never channeled anyone's familiar spirits, but merely used his God given gifts and talents to praise his Creator.
@deweysable who says being tall is his heaven? he never seemed self-conscious about a thing to me, and might not want anything different for eternity. sheesh!
JUST A LITTLE TALK WITH JESUS Key: G 4/4 Words & Music: Clarence Derriks (1938) 1. I once was lost in sin but Jesus took me in,And then a little light from heaven filled my soul.He filled my heart in love and wrote my name above,Just a little talk with Jesus made me whole. Chorus:Now let us have a little talk with Jesus ;Let us tell Him all about our troubles,He will hear our faintest cry and He will answer by and by;Now when you feel a prayer wheel turning,Then you'll know a little fire is burningYou will find a little talk with Jesus make it right. 2. Sometimes my path seems drear without a ray of cheer,And a cloud about me hides the light of day;The mist's of sin may rise and and hide the starry skies,And just a little talk with Jesus clears the way. 3. I may have doubts and fears, my eyes may fill with tears,But Jesus is a friend who watches day and night;I go to Him in prayer, He knows my every care,And just a little talk with Jesus makes it right.
@sdowensr I'm willing to bet any amount of money you wish on the identity. I have watched Jake Hess from the 50's til his death that is Jake. Note all the comments who also agree.
This is Masters V, not the statesmen, JD was one of the founding members of the Masters V, The Masters V came about when the statesman quartet and blackwood brothers, then they joined together, James blackwood was with the blackwood brothers along with JD, and Rosie Rozell, Jake Hess, and Hovie were with the statesman
