I am so happy to see his growth and confidence 7 years later (2021) This channel is pure gold, I realized mind can be trained and work in my favor thanks to this man. Gracias Leo Gura♥️
We see this in Martial Arts all the time. Students come into the dojo, and they ask "How long does it take to get to Black Belt?" as if it's that easy.. just put in "a" time, and you will get "b" result. But the answer isn't as easy as that.. it depends on the student's mindset: Are they willing to do the push ups, repetitive movements, learn the patterns, be corrected, try again, fall down, get back up, make a mistake, learn from it, get exhausted, recuperate? and then.. when they think that they learned something, they find out that now they have to make it faster, stronger, more effective... and the circle starts anew. Some motivated people train everyday, and practice even when they aren't in class.. and they may go up in ability quickly because of their consistency... but it's not a guarantee. The muscle memory only happens through patient repetition of the same effort.. and in time, it becomes automatic, and THEN you can use it. Once you can use it.. the effort is worth it. You realize that the journey was where the joy was, not the destination.
the basics are the most important, because it gives u the ability to build from the ground up if all progress is lost most lottery winners lose their money quickly u can be luckily successful but it won’t last without mastery be like the stereotypical karate master focus on one thing at a time. and make sure it’s something that satisfies yourself because longevity and sustainability are more important than raw efficiency. don’t do grind type work. that’s what i got thankyou leo
I am happy that I found this channel I believe it will help me being who I want to be in the future help me to develop myself to change and be best possible me that I can. Thank you for doing this Leo!
As I'm just starting to get more serious about sharing self-improvement and consciousness work myself, it's truly encouraging to see how much you've progressed in your presentation skills these last 4-5 years, Leo. Makes it easier for me to see the Mastery which is being cultivated as you myelinate your nerve fibers (a perfectly nerdy way to put it). Upward and onwards! Frode
Yet again, another great video! I want to take Leo's concept of Mastery one step further. What I've learned through my own experience is that 'Forgetting' is just as important as the 'Learning'. I figured this out back when I used to play video games, namely first person shooters. During the first day playing a new game you nearly ALWAYS suck. The reason is partially because your mind is overwhelmed with learning the controls, but is also due to the mind attempting to retain what works and what doesn't. What happens the second day? Suddenly you feel like you are playing more instinctively. Why is this? Because your mind has had a day to process everything you learned - it retained what worked, and jettisoned what didn't. Once I figured this out for myself I began to apply it to learning in general. For example - If I am learning a new programming language, say via youtube, I will casually watch all of the videos without implementing any of it. This allows my mind to 1) grasp the basics, 2) figure out what all is possible and not possible, and 3) remove the larger feeling of being overwhelmed. Then I will take a day or two to forget and then sit down and go through the course again, this time practicing it as I go and perhaps with a specific project in mind to help me better retain the information. In short, whenever I hit a learning plateau I take a couple days off and then come back to it. This allows my mind to eject whatever is holding me back so that I can come at it fresh. For me, attempting to push through a plateau, using brute force, only causes it to take far longer to reach mastery, assuming I don't burn out from the frustration first.
Hey Leo, whilst checking out some of your older videos I watched these ones about mastery and it's given me a great new perspective on my job. I have become a chef in the last 6 months and now have a new passion for the everyday processes and trying to improve every detail. I have come a long way and have much further to go but the 'mastery' perspective definitely helps to keep me focused in the moment and motivated for the future. You have obviously come a long way with your vids too so congratulations for that!
We can't manage what we don't measure. As raising our standards creates limitations. For anything worth having isn't going to be easy. If a person has the right strategy & desire they can learn anything. The reason people quit is because brick walls are there for a reason. It's to keep people out who don't really want it. If you go to inside your video manager Leo and then click on "Analytics" you can check out your "Audience Retention". I bet you most people don't watch all your videos all the way through because most people have short attention spans. I even have videos on MAGIC I created on Video that are a few minutes long and most people don't watch that all the way through.
great video. From my experience the better you get the more people want to tear you down with trash talking etc...I found dealing with that being the hardest thing. Perhap a video on how to handle being made fun of etc
Leo, is there a way to better understand where you actually hit plato and where is your lack of productivity\bad work ethic\weak vision? As an example, I practice guitar a lot, I want to express myself through music, but without like-minded people I have no inspiration to make my own stuff. So I try to master my technique, learn compositions not to waste time. After awhile I get bored, I start thinking that maybe I need to relax, to give myself a break. But then I remember my vision and that nobody will do the work for me and I keep on working, thus getting more results considering technique, repertoire. But it doesn't work everytime, so I'm wondering if I lack understanding of how to build strong work ethic or hit plato and just pushing too hard.
+Eugene Gurevich You gotta develop a working feel for it. A balance must be struck. There is no way to tell you verbally what that balance will be for you. It's a discovery process YOU have to go through. Good luck and stay the course. Trust your intuitions and higher wisdom.
Thank you, Leo! I understand, I will continue digging into better understanding of what I'm doing, how and what exactly is happening to me. You are a good man, brother, I deeply appreciate your support and enormous help. You're definitely making this world for the better. *put on pirate's hat and said* Argh! Stay the course and conquer the world! Nah, just kidding, thanks! :)
when i merge the mastery mindset with visualization, how should i do it? do i visualize myself of enjoying the process, etc more often than visualizing myself with the end result?
another exam of gym that you gave when thos youtube videos give titles "how to gain abs for 1 week" like wtf i get it now why people gets fats back after hitting gym because they want the result and when get it they become bored so they go back to their old ways, whereas just enjoying the process of exercising and forget the calendar.
You can, but you will not be world-class at more than one thing. That said, you should focus on mastering one thing at a time. Do not split your attention into 5 different domains. Be choosy. Pick the one that will make the biggest difference and stick with it to the end.
I definitely see Owen's teaching here.
