I love Neil but he doesnt hold a candle to Mike Pattons versatility. No one does. That's why Rolling Stone mag had to redo their top singers. They had Axel at 1, then with fan out cry and realizing Mike has unmatched octaves he can hit and unmatched versatility, they had to place Mike at 1.
They pulled this at Reading last year (2016) and I lost my shit. Couldn't believe how good they sounded and then out of nowhere came fucking Neil Fallon. Couldn't deal with it
This tour is what got me into Mastodon, I originally went to the concert because of Clutch. But now they've ended up being one of my favorite bands, and when they performed this it blew my mind when Neil came out. Was the show in NY
Damn Neil still has his hardcore voice, I guess he stopped using it so he didn't damage it but nice to know he can still do it, sounds just like Speedway League/Self-titled on this
@@redaffix7320 Technique is forsure way different. There's a Clutch show you can find from the late 90s where they play a lot of songs from their first album, and he already does a much deeper almost death metal growls there
Neil should be in a metal band full time- when introducing people to Clutch I always play them songs from clutch that demonstrate his great blues / rock voice then play them his section of blood and thunder to truly demonstrate his awesomeness 😝
>turns up for one song >sings third verse and last chorus >leaves What a fucking badass, wonder if he so happened to be in the audience and they invited him on
fuuuuck i'm so jealous of everyone that got to see the Clutch/Mastodon tour at a magical place like Red Rocks. I caught this tour in St Paul MN and it was awesome - someday I must see a concert at Red Rocks
You think Neil is badass check out the vid with the original singer of mastodon with them on circle of cysquatch. Can’t remember the guys name think it was Gary something???
