Next chapter in my quest of Mastodon Leviathan full album guitar covers, a personal favorite, Megalodon!!! This song is just awesome riff after awesome riff, it never lets up. This song pretty well sums up the Mastodon riff style; lots of hybrid picking, lots of strange chord shapes moving around the fretboard, some cool non-diatonic harmonies... so awesome. This one took me a while to figure out a couple years ago, for sure! I made a cover video of it a while back using the Seymour Duncan Nazgul 7, but i thought i would make another using the Dimarzio Titan and this particular Kemper profile, which is an Amp Factory Marshall JCM800 Drive profile that i've gotten to sound a LOT like the album tone. The Titan is just so freaking great i can't believe it.
Guitar is my RG470 that i've modded the shit out of and swirled.

I can't think of a band in the last decade that's had more iconic riffs than Mastodon! The one at the end of Hunters of the Sky has to be my all time favorite though. Freaking awesome cover!

Uncle Ben what can is say. Impeccable accuracy clean as a whistle!!!! Leviathan is my favourite album by far. The mix of styles is great. Mastodon for me at their best. Have you done a cover of Hearts Alive. thats a sick ass song! Keep up the good work my man. Your a real hidden gem on youtube!!!!

Amazing work dude, a freaking rush just watching you rip those riffs out perfect I saw Mastodon live back in the summer of 2006, they had Children of Bodom open for them. Mastodon would go on to open for Lamb of God, and Lamb of God opening for the main act, SLAYER. The summer of 6/6/06 was historical Long live the underground

That is easily my most favorite bridge pickup at the moment. I didn’t like it in standard tuning or drop D at all but once I setup in drop b that pickup took on a whole new life. Bkp on a budget lol

This one took a minute for sure! Really complex tune. Man, work on simple stuff like learning to hear root notes of chords and their distances (or intervals if you want to sound fancy). Pick up any OLD Green Day record, which will be nothing but power chords, and start trying to learn what those root note distances sound like.

Probably a bit late now but I'm using an app called Functional Ear Trainer which I downloaded free on the app store. I've been looking for ways to improve my playing when I'm not at home bc I don't always get the chance to practice so I've been doing some ear/theory stuff and this app is fun. Basically it plays you a set of chords from a scale and then a note and you have to identify which note in the scale it was. Good for practicing intervals if that's something you'd be into!

I haven't been doing much music-wise at the moment cause I'm a bit flat out with work/study but while I was using it I was making good progress! Learnt the major intervals, and then started on the chromatic intervals in a major context and nearly had those nailed. After that it offers minor intervals and chromatic intervals in a minor context. Would definitely recommend it!

Why does it look like there is a frame cut at 2:48? I only noticed it when watching the picking hand.

Travis Bowden ha! Nice catch. When filming on an iPhone (as I did in this video), there is a little frame drift that happens that makes recorded audio lose sync. So once ever 2 minutes or so, you’ve gotta snip a couple frames out otherwise sync drifts away real bad.

that's about 99% correct. Well done and thanks! Just to be perfectionist on this (Hehe) the second chord you play, 3 seconds in, is slightly different to the studio version. I believe there's an open A(or in this case G) string in that chord, just like in the first chord you play. So to tab that chord out quickly from fat string to thin, it's 8-0-10-0. There's one or two more things that I could mention, but it ain't really necessary cuz you pretty much nailed it
