If that wasn't a gold nugget right there!! That applies to life too in general.. how can we adapt to be our best at that time even if life isn't 100%! ❤
The key to crossfit is the exact opposite of crossfit. Extremely regimented. Specific training for specific movements/goals. Who'd have thought? Great interview.
dude mat is bloody BRILLIANT! he trained like a friggin monk. no wonder his gym looks so lonely at times. not everyone is willing to be that disciplined
I’ve been loving your videos after seeing you with Mitch! I’ve been binging all the way back to the content with Juji. And today, the Trailer Park Boys reference solidified it. Love it man!
Zack I love your weightlifting videos, your lift companion series ( especially with Dozer), your music is awesome, I dont like crossfit much but I love your interviews
When I hear the term "fit" I wonder exactly what that means. Different activities place different demands on the body & even the mind. Being fit for boxing does not make you fit for mountain climbing. I walk steep hills, lift weights but after not ice skating for years and starting again I found it took a while to get fit for skating.
^^^^ that comment right there there’s general fitness and then there is sports specific conditioning however I will say that a boxer and other combat sports will have very good general fitness because of the amount of cardio and strength conditioning goes into it. Another thing that was brought up though is mountain climbing and skating. Those also take different types of coordination movements, which again also doesn’t spell out whether they’re generally fit.
The definition of fitness that Greg Glassman (the creator of CrossFit) made is as follows: "Increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains" Quite literally this is a power output measurement (wattage) plotted against the effort time. If you look at that data and take the area under the curve you will see that as someone gets fitter their power output across multiple time domains and multiple modalities increases.
Sounds like progressive overload to me the way he describes repeating workouts but bumping the wattage, the cals, or the time domain. CrossFit can be effective at achieving a certain form of “fitness” via constant variation, but the lack of consistency also takes away from the athlete’s ability to benchmark and measure progress which is what ZT was asking about.
No comments about his cycle? In crossfit they sell you that you can reach the games by doing crossfit at the box while staying natural. That was his secret too?
Can we stop enabling this guy? He was good at competition, but he has no idea about what CrossFit is or how to coach it and he constantly lies about his "secret ways to get fittest in the world". This guy is the Lance Armstrong of CrossFit.
Can't teach any movement as shown in the video he did with Will Tennyson. Doesn't know about progressions or the methodology in general in how to introduce new movements and when to push intensity on people. Can't teach the pros either. Most of his athletes left him pretty quickly after signing on cause they all realised he was all talk. Mal O'brien got burnout from the sport cause all he knows is "MONKEY WORK HARD PAYS OFF" mentality.@@letransformateur6477
Can really tell Fraser is comfortable around you. He spoke in a way that showed vulnerability. Well done Zack! Keep on prying the gold out of him. Great fn interview. Can’t wait to to try 6 back squats EMOM x6🫡
