3:48 A grind balance meter is present, but is locked behind a cheat code. Once you input the right button sequence on the pause screen, that grind balance meter should appear. It's positioned to the left of your rider as opposed to over your rider's head.
Today i learned the spin buttons were faster than the D-pad in THPS. They always felt so awkward to play with that i never tested it through all these years. Found this in my recommended feed. Great video!
The fact the last level of MHPBMX2 turns into a shooter was the best surprise back in the day. This is one of the top BMX games that ever came out. Oh btw Matt Hoffman is a legend! Remember kids don't pop pills pop wheelies.
I still hop on Matt Hoffman 2 every now again I think it still holds up, make a 3rd for current generation. If I could find number 1 on ps1 I’d totally buy it and play it again
Just a correction, MHPB2 has not been released on PC. I love these games and it's a shame there aren't new versions. The new BMX games that are in production (BMX Streets and others) use a control scheme that I find strange with both analog sticks.
duuude!! i loved this first matt hoffman game so much as a kid, at a certain point i think i played it way more than THPS. and you're right, i always felt like no one else talked about these games. way underrated. this is a really good video! sick you added a lot of backstory for matt and not just the video games. made the whole watching experience really enjoyable.
I definitely commented while on the Dave Mirra video, don't know how it got on this one. Got an emulator, boutta give it another shot after 20 years since playing it
TH american wasteland was one of the best. The otherDS game is ..o.k. I played MH through with all characters. Didnt play number 2. Only liked the old style physics. Dave Mirra was a nice break from the TH/MH style of game. I've played these games to death long ago. Can't really get the same hit in my 40s now.
Hmm I played the PS1 version but on a couple of PS2 consoles and compared to the THPS games I always felt the controls were extremely unresponsive and frustrating. Not sure whether the PS1 version was worse or maybe it didn't run right on PS2 or something. Anyone else have this experience?
Depending on what year your PS2 was made, compatibility with PS1 games might have been better or worse. There's a huge list of ps1 games that don't work right on ps2.
ive been contemplating for a while which bmx game between mirra and hoffman i wanted to try out. the former has a more interesting trick system (square for tricks and circle for modifiers) but the latter feels smoother and the grinds connect better
I remember renting BMX2 randomly for PS2 when I was a kid, and I really liked it. I had played THPS2 and 3, but not a ton, and ended up really liking the BMX spin-off. Even seeing the levels played in this video made me nostalgic for it.
I was bummed the N64 THPS 2 didnt include the demo! Never got to play the full version but had a lot of fun with the demo! Loved the sound effects too, the rachety noise when the wheels spin as you air out and the metal ::PING:: noises the pegs make when you do peg stalls on quarter pipes. Those were great times!
The RU-vid algorithm sent me, fantastic video! I liked the background on Hoffman himself and the track titles listed on screen. One thing I would Like to mention though, your pacing. Allow a pause between topics to distinguish information and let your audience breath. Liked and subscribed, can’t wait to see what you do next.
UG1 has significantly better mechanics than thug2, plus a competent story. Most of the community lives on th4 and thug1 because they're just leagues above the rest
