I think the reason the feria was "split up" is because of lack of space in the main location to the west of Parque Morazán. The ancillary location is normally a parking lot, and it's been empty and underused for decades. The huge rock wall to the east is below what used to be the Club Social (club for the wealthy) in Somoza's days, which then became the offices of MIDINRA, the Ministry for Agrarian Reform during the 80s. Guirila is delicious! There's usually a stand just outside of the supermercado Palí just to the north of the catedral. It's typically sold only with some cuajada, but maybe they added the other ingredients for the féria. Atól / atolillo is known in Mexico as atole. It's sort of like tapioca pudding, but with corn. Pinolillo is another common drink made with ground corn and cacao. You've probably already had it - it's often served as the fresco with comida corriente, the set menu lunches in comedores..
Interesting. So the machete is like a serious pocket knife in rural America. People just have them, because it's a smart tool. Thank you for your channel. It fascinating to learn about Nicaragua and now I want to visit someday. :)
I wish I could have been there for that festival! I would have had to wear my stretchy pants for all that food! Are there any night clubs to go dancing in nicaragua?
HAHAHA. Are there nightclubs? He asks. LOL. This is nightclub central. Nightclubs everywhere. Managua is full of them. Leon has a district that goes till 4am seven days a week. SJDS is famous as a top ten global beach party spot at its clubs. Matagalpa has more clubs than even Leon. Granada is the one place with almost nothing. All the other cities, night clubbing is THE thing to do after dinner in Nicaragua. Dancing and loud music literally defines the culture. Even in our tiny village of 3500 people we have a night club that goes till 3am and is packed and a wild party.
@@ScottAlanMillerVlog That's great, my wife and i love going dancing whenever we can! I thought due to poverty there would be no clubs, glad to know I am wrong!
