Was wondering the same thing. Scrolled down; read your comment and right as I read "sounded like aliens" the sound started. LOL perfectly timed comment.
I have literally no idea what's going on, but I still love watching the spectacle and knowing that two great minds are dueling it out in a high stake mental battle
@@fpsliam I don't understand why they draw like that when Magnus had the pawn advantage. Magnus could have escorted the pawn down for another queen. (1st game)
@@tonyr.3435 doing so would have made his king vulnerable, and burned a ton of time, they draw when theres no chance for either to win within time. If he moved the pawns it would take a turn where he isnt aggressing the rook which can cause a mate, easier for both to draw
What is this? I don't what it is about Magnus but he is a breath of fresh air for chess. Guy is funny, unintended not of the time though. Great observation. Have you seen odd karate chop video, that made me laugh.
Had Hikaru used the Pendati variation after his ninth move, he could have mated in 9. Had he used the Emsinger Gambit he could have mated in 11. I dont know jackshit about chess but I can make up some "chessy" names
You have to be pretty adept at chess just to read the board. I've tried watching chess matches with commentators and they'll get all excited about something and I don't know the game well enough to understand. They'll see a checkmate or draw coming 10 moves out. Its not for the casual observer.
just came here from Magnus' youtube reaction video to Queen's gambit final game, he is really so cool and funny hahaha i love this genius man so much, i dont play chess professionally, i just play it sometimes with my classmates in friends whenever we feel like it just for fun but seeing how intense a game could be and the stakes on hand, wow, its a real battlefield of great minds. SO COOL! Congrats Magnus Carlsen. indeed the best we've ever had
Interesting editing. After Game 1, you can see Carlsen reaching for a handshake. But then cut to a different camera angle where Nakamura is grabbing the pieces. It's not immediately obvious that the camera switch cut about 2 seconds of footage. So It kinda looks like he left Carlsen hanging. But he would never do that.
They're so friendly towards each other, always smiling and it looks like they're having so much fun. I bet they'd be a right laugh to hang around with.
The wonder of modern tech enabled chess to become an expectator sport and create a much bigger opportunity for chess players around the world for a realizable sports career . Gens una sumus!
Incrível ..a captura do rei ..xeque-mate!! Os Árabes introduziram um jogo na Europa espalhado pelo mundo que requer leis próprias de cada jogador, e nessas leis vence o que vê as lacunas do adversário!! Adoro Xadrez...
Magnus was about to kill the knight at 19:58 but he instantly saw the other knight which he will be eating back so he stopped and prepared another trap for the queen, brilliant magnus
@@marcomola1906 yea same here in the Balkans, we also say eat and Horse lmao, glad we aint the only ones. Also the Bishop here is called the Hunter. Completely different meaning again than in english
@@petarveljkovic4906 In french we can say 'eat' for 'capture', but it is familiar, or childish, so we use 'take' or 'capture'. For 'knight' it is the same word. 'Bishop' is 'fool' . All the words translated of course.
I feel kind of bad for Hikaru and other super GM's like him, they got unlucky being born at a similar time to the freak of nature, once in a few hundred years, super genius type of player that is magnus. In a different timeline the world championship would be at least a 3-4 way fight instead of the dominance reign of magnus.
Hikaru said it himself that it’s pretty unlucky that he and Magnus is playing at the same timeline and that the leaderboard would have been completly different if Magnus werent there lol. He even said that there is only one living player that he is jealous of and thats Magnus!
It's similar to feeling bad for all the great teams and players who could never win a championship ring because they were unfortunate to have been in the same era as JORDAN.
Just curious is there a reason rook F8 to d8 at 22:50 wouldn't have worked, I'm not the best chess player but I saw that while watching, and assume there would be a problem with it I don't know of
I'm new to chess. At the end of the game, did Nakamura place the kings in the center of the board on the e file to indicate a draw? Or is this a personal tick of Nakamura?
Its like its always that every time magnus beats his opponents, the opponents oh woah dude u did a good game then magnus straightly goes to the kind of a face like oh dude its nothing...
I dont know about you guys, but every time I play chess with someone, I take a person with me and tell her to cough in that way, I feel like I'm in a chess championship :D
Di Menit 23:11 sebenarnya nakamura bisa di chek mate oleh Magnus, yaitu dgn Benteng makan pion di depan raja, kalo benteng dimakan raja, maka Menteri skak raja kemudian kuda skak mate
