This video will need to be redone soon. I'm waiting on the incoming changes to pounce and possibly something going on with bleed. Things that are way different now than this video are: 4 Utah pounce will not kill a stego with raw damage now. Killing stego with raw damage is not a viable tactic. Bleeding a Stego out with pounce is your best option, but you still may die on the dismount as the distance you travel is not safe. Stego gameplay hasn't really changed. Make sure you buck!

As a creature that uses its tail for a weapon you should always keep your tail facing your enemy if its a one on one battle, if you just chase after them trying to bite and then use your tail your just leaving your head wide open.

Super helpful and awesome video! Now if only I can apply this in game. I haven't fought stego for last two updates (maybe they finally fixed this) but before those i tried 7 times and every single time i got spiked 30-40+ feet away from the stego.

Honestly stego should one shot a Utah with a body shot as well, Utah and carno have a extremely good matchup against stego, meanwhile stego has a bad matchup against them.

Stego seems to have some kind of headshot multiplier on its tail tip. Not sure if it's a glitch, but carnos exploit it to kill stegos via biting the tail tip as they swipe.

I was literally just fighting a stego with a pack and I was standing right in front of it and bit it’s head. It turned and clubbed me instantly after bucking another raptor off. I did not realize standing right in front of it was not safe.

you can scrape utahs off on trees? also do you have to click for utah to do dmg for pounce? what are the controls?

Check out my latest video for controls. Basically hold rmb and let go when you need to dismount. Bucking is more efficient than scraping off on trees rn.

Are you aware of the broken stego tail hitbox with carno? It makes killing stegos super easy and it's a huge problem right now I have some vids of me abusing it on my channel if you want to see what I'm talking about...

stego has an odd tail hitbox, it can hit things even if they're at the stego's hip like that one utah that died mid pounce, I hope they fix that eventually, it makes no sense to jump into the base of the tail then teleport to the tailtip to die

Realistically stego would have only been hunted by allos and ceratos, so the isle stego should be MUCH stronger than it is. It is lower tier than it should be...I feel like herbies are given such a massive disadvantage by the devs... ;_; Also thanks for the great video!!

Well I don’t have any idea about paleo stuff and who hunts who. I will say I disagree with you entirely about the devs giving a massive disadvantage to herbivores. I’ve still yet to be taken out by a coordinated group of Utahs playing as a Stego on official servers. Also Tenontos are INCREDIBLY strong. They are more than capable of holding their own. Even if you look at legacy, the strength of dibble is better than any other carnivore in it’s tier besides a sucho.

Keep in mind, this is the Isle at the state of what it is. It will absolutely be fixed later on as more dinos are added. Updates galore: buffs, nerfs, etc... It won't stop until all dinos (and otherwise) are added.

utah gets a two 2m spikes punched through its body kicking out its intestines and stomach, puncturing its lungs, breaking its spine, creating critical bleeding maybe even putting a hole right outside the heart well maybe just lie down and rest alittle its fine

Even if it hits the tip of the tail? Lul. Nothings gonna die just from getting hit on the tail. A lot of creatures tails come off so they can escape. It’s fine. It would be RIDICULOUS if Utahs died just from taking one to the tip of the tail.

Well the big problem is how many shots it can take to the tail. The turn and agility is the funnest thing about Utah! Also getting good at it takes a lot of practice. So it SHOULD be good when utilized well!

Ohh in legacy. There are lots of videos out there for that. You can’t STOP it but there’s a couple things you can do to get an edge. You can break check someone by running and then stopping in hopes that they’ll run through you and you can bite them. Other than that, toggling z between slow walk and trot to try and turn as tightly as you can on someone is your best bet. If you turn one direction with your slow walk the desync and lag might land you a bite on them if they make any mistakes.

Also depends on the dino you’re playing. Sucho for example is great at break checking because it can instantly stop with no forward momentum. Allo however has forward momentum when you try to stop.

Stego should thagomizer stun utahs for 10 seconds and make them bleed so hard with 2 hits = dead utah

Things will change once the tail dmg is fixed and pounce is more bleed based. It’s a video game though. It’s fun to try and hunt stuff that’s bigger than you. If you do it right it’s awesome.

Utah isn’t really that op against anything but stego though. Well, if the two players are of the same skill level. Like it’s not very dangerous to a carno in a 1v1 at all.
