MATCHBOX Restoration 47a 1 Ton Trojan Van 1958 

I've looked at this little model van a number of times over the last 12 months trying to consider as to wether it would be a good candidate for a makeover video, and thought should I or shouldn't I ? - This van is not much to look at. It is 'boxy' , plain and boring. When it has a scruffy paint job and is missing most of it's decals, it looks like it is only fit for the bin.
What were Matchbox thinking when they picked this vehicle to make in miniature over all of the other vehicle available at the time?
Well...... it didn't take me very long to realise as I was putting this thing back together, that Matchbox had made another fantastically beautiful model that will still be admired by many collectors to this day.
Part of it's charm is the fact that it is so simplistic in it's design. The rich red of it's main body, highlights the white lettering on it's sides, and the green tea leaf motifs on the doors add a qurirky splash of unexpected colour.
With a small amount of silver detailing on it's front and it's grey wheels with bright silver hubs, this model characterises all that was good with Matchbox Lesney designs of the day.
This one is was worth doing and is now definately a 'keeper'!
