I really enjoy seeing the castings, once you've got the paint stripped. As kids playing with the toys, I don't think we ever really noticed. But today, you can really see the quality of the sculpting that went into the tooling, even on these early models. On this one, it looks like they even sculpted a radiator cap on the back of the body.

Hi Marty! Fantastic to see you back again mate. Tip on the Mr Color gloss paints - they dry almost as soon as they hit the surface. So you need a different technique. Spray closer and ‘faster’ if you get me. Also - if it’s still a bit rough, spray some neat Mr Color Levelling thinner - it’ll ‘eat’ the paint and flow back to gloss!

Hi Marty, I went through a phase of collecting second hand matchbox models back in the late 'thousands'. Watching your restoration I paused the video and dug out the compressor truck I had in my collection and lo and behold it's the version with space between the air receivers! So, thanks for that information. I liked how you annealed the axles to assist with the crimping, which I'm sure will help other folk. My model is in 'as played' condition and I think I prefer it that way. Looking forward to watching more of your programmes. 🙂

Welcome back Marty glad to see the country life is agreeing with you. If you are going to use Mr. Hobby paint I suggest you dilute it 50/50 with Mr. Hobby leveling thinner the paint will flow better and you won't get the 'sandy' texture. Keep 'em coming.
