Beautifully painful song of how “life” takes it’s toll on a relationship. I’ve lived it and I’m thankful we made it out on the other side. You become so good at living that you forget what you are living for.
A perfectly written indie pop song. So simple, elegant, yet complex in its own way...sad, bittersweet lyrics, great instrumentation. Beautiful harmonies.
Bought a home we bartered right 2 kids, 2 car delight Posed pictures on the walls Small talk in the bedroom halls Can't make it home tonight Go sleep but leave the light I pretend to make a call Loose talk in bedroom stalls Oh, oh, oh is my only offer Stifle copies of myself Oh, oh, oh or someone else My friends they all agree Give in to our defeat In secret we believe We're nothing, nothing, nothing that we need Oh, oh, oh is my only offer Stifle copies of myself Oh, oh, oh or someone else I always wanted to be the face in front of me Debating a life sucked out the energy build up a wall made out of finer things Piled it high so we could barely see it Oh, oh, oh is my only offer Stifle copies of myself Oh, oh, oh is all I have to offer
I was front row when you guys opened for Death Cab in Oregon, 2006 when I was 15. Could never remember your name, but I finally found you again and its just as I remember. One of the best shows I have ever been to.
Such a beautiful song. I've been listening to MoS for more than a decade, so glad to see them continuing to do well for themselves. They just come across as wonderful people you'd want to hang out with.
@kinggodzilla Holy shit, I knew I heard this somewhere! It seriously is one of the only films that has credits as entertaining as the actual film. On a side note some one needs to give Grandpa Seth a big hug, he looks like he truly needs it!
one of my favorite mates of state songs. the video is cool. i'm surprised that a lot of people that have commented don't like kori? i love her. i think she's beautiful and a great musician
Kewl vid. :) I love Mates of State! The first song I heard by them was "Parachutes" off of "Team Boo" a few years ago on a local indie station and I was hooked. Can't wait to see them live. :)
You have to wonder sometimes how gems like this song don't get anywhere near the attention they should. And other crappy stuff is played all the time. This is a great song.
@yewtewbdude What's that got to do with looks if you love their music? Just because you think they're ugly does not mean they make bad music. This is some of the best music I have heard in quite a while.
First of all: Beautiful Song. And in answer to your statement. It wasn't the size of the audience, but the small amount of material he had to work with and the constant repetition of his memorable lines. You can only milk the nostalgia-cow for so long before it gets tedious. Keep in mind: He'd star in Troll 2: Part 2 if he is given the gig.
