You know, I root for all the strongman competitors, but Mateusz is my favorite. Easily the most dominant athlete never to have won either WSM or Arnold.
He is and was excellent at many events. For example, 2020 Arnold's he won 4 events out of 6. Arnold's last year he won 3 events, Rogue he won 2 events. That's dominance. It's just his weaker deadlift. @@petershortland478
@@markadler8968 "far younger" isn''t true, just a few years. He is literally only weak in DL, so "some" is a bit of an exaggeration. "His time is over" is a ridiculous statement, especially considering that Arnolds 2022 had squat instead of DL. I don't think he will win this years ASC due to Elephant bar DL for max, but I think it's disingenuous to count him out of a podium spot.
He HAS dominated, but only in the events that he dominates in (if you see what I mean). His deadlift has always let him down (often being last in that event) and that has cost him titles on more than one occasion.
@@layzeetv3877 pudz did learn through out his career because a sponsor paid his English classes, he was the first I heard about this happening. Sponsors want their athletes to reach a greater audience so they want them to communicate with the fans
@@layzeetv3877 honestly that’s a fair point, dudes clearly capable of putting in the work. Honestly I’m just always so impressed when an athlete not only has time to train, but also learn a language. Shows his dedication
He's nearly unbeatable at certain events and he was unbelievable at the ASC 2020. Although Thor was 2nd in two of them and 3rd in another. Not to mention winning the other two. Consistency beats all in this game, what a battle. Hoping to see Mateusz finally make some big changes to his deadlift.
I say this all the time it's well and good wining 4 comps. There is always one event, which is a major weakness Mateauz crippling weakness is deadlift and he needs to be mid pack
That was peak Fullthor by the way. If he had a mid deadlift back then, it would be enough to take the title. He lost by less than 2 points if i remember correctly. And Martis, the 3rd place, was 15 points behind them
Mitch Hooper 28,Oleksii Novikov 28,Tom Stoltman 29,mateusz kieliszkoesk 30,Trey Mitchell 30, I look at these ages and the sport is going to be so good for the next 5 years and that's not to mention the up and coming or the older ones
Nothing but respect for anyone giving a full length interview in a second language, but specifically love to see how much mateusz speaking has improved. Legendary strength athlete who the whole strongman community is rooting for! Best of luck with training and can't wait to see you in full strength this year
I met Mateusz at the World's Strongest Man last year in Myrtle Beach. He was a gentle giant. He didn't have the greatest event because of his knees and he walked past me looking dejected. There was a Polish woman I was talking with and she began to talk to Mateusz in Polish and he opened up to her about how dejected he was feeling. The man is a mountain from head to toe, but also sensitive and kind. Looking forward to meeting him again this year in Myrtle Beach for the WSM in early May!
Here I am almost 50 years old and I've been waiting for this video like a little kid waiting for Saturday morning cartoons. Super excited to see the Arnold's. Go Mateusz!!💪 This comp is going to be so good!!!
The first interview I ever remember watching of him was a video call that he and Martins did during COVID. Martins suggested he take his time and get his body fully back to health and Mateusz basically said, "that's easy for you to say, you won a title last year. I'm tired of finishing second and I can't win if I don't compete." You could tell how much it meant to him to earn a title against his friends and competitors and I've been a huge fan of his ever since. The guy loaded multiple atlas stones with a torn bicep because he was tired of finishing second. I don't know if he'll ever win a major title, but I'll be rooting for him to do it.
I met Mateusc at world's last year! My girlfriend and I shouted at him for a picture. He just rumbled in his deep voice "Quick, quick." And then leans in over us and scowls into the camera. Love this big guy! Polska Gurom!
And we miss you Mateusz , one of my favourite ever moments was watching him break the car walk WR in Manchester. Amazing to see him in such a good place. He's an absolute force 💪
1:20 Mateusz really is special athlete, most exciting of them all. Can pull of some incredible feats of strenght. Hopefully with some adjustments to his training he Can recover fully also mentally.
17:44 have it in mind while commenting on his performance in deadlift on Rogue Invitational. DL was first event, and Mateusz arrived a few hours before from Poland.
By far, Mateusz is who I am most excited to watch compete at the Arnold's this year! I want to see him do well and this interview was a great peek into how he's doing!
Kieliszkowski is my favorite strongman. I'll be cheering on him this year! Thanks a lot for the interview, uncle Loz! Tell auntie Liz I said "hello". Stay strong! 💪❤
Mateusz and Halfthor are my favorite SM athletes...i always root for those guys. Tom is steadily becoming a favorite as well, the dude is a beast and i think will win Arnold's mainly because his body is ready, unlike Thor or Martins for example.
If a fully fit Mateusz and Thor return to strongman (as much as I like Tom, Mitch, Martins and the rest) I don't think the rest of the guys are on their level. Mateusz, head out to Iceland and start training deadlift with Thor!
Seeing every athlete suffer from Injuries so much, Makes me admire Z a lot more, How did he go 20+ Years competing almost every 3rd week without anything major
Because a lot of the smaller international shows he did were much lighter than they are now. It was like training for him, he said that himself. Also, Z is a freak of nature 😂
Our favorite strongman!!!!! So happy that he’s healing! And he looks happy! He made my Fiancé and I’s strongman dreams come true when he let us take a picture with him at worlds strongest man last year!He seemed so disappointed and sad but he checked off our bucket list! 😂 Kobe proposed to me while Arnold’s last year was going on and him winning would’ve made it perfect! lol we love all of our strongmen….especially Mateusz!! 🎉
Mateusz Kieliszkowski is such a great dude man, and he is so hard on himself, he hit a world record a while ago in reps and he was disapointed because he knew he could do more. And the strength he has shown is just incredible, all the guys deserve to win when they put in the effort and hard work, but i hope he wins a world strongest man title.
Awesome interview Loz !! Love Mateusz he is so honest !! Especially with his mind & nerves !! Would love him to podium at Arnold's !! Frame carry king ❤
Great interview Loz mateusz comes across as a real nice guy hope he gets his deadlift sorted, does anyone think if he concentrated on deadlift for a year it would improve alot
Mateusz has managed to come 2nd and 3rd even with a (conparatively) poor deadlift. If he could get even mid pack in comp he would be winning overall. Fingers crossed for you my man!
Mateusz is a Polish Brian Show its a shame that he doesnt get a credit he deserves. Dont give up Big man for lot of us you are the best Polish strogman of all times!!! Sport evolves, a lot expectaction are much higher yet you are still there showing the world what you are made of and inspire us. I hope to see you in UK that will be a dream of mine to shake your hand:) Good luck in Arnolds i think if you set your heart to it you will get it!!!!
Mateusz you deserved to win the Arnold in 2020! I think it was Martins who underperformed and didn't go between you and Hafthor in some events that let him win over you. I'll never forget it!
I’d love to see more of Mateusz such a great interview, he’s really engaging! Happy to see him feeling positive and excited to see him compete this year!!
I watched this yesterday and the video was at 10K a day later 15K just goes to show what a popular athlete Mateusz is such a likeable man who can podium at any comp at anytime great to see a smile on his face!
Serious question, is there anyone on the planet that is actually capable of disliking Mateusz? Such a great dude. I mean, I'm sure there are plenty that dislike competing against him, but that's a different story.
Good interview. Technical question what does he need to do to improve the deadlift? Is it a technique issue or strength? He seems to have some speed of the floor but then just struggles at the knees.
Now I've seen Mateusz in interview I respect him even more, what a great guy, and an absolute beast in his best events. As a Brit I've been supporting Tom for the last few years but I'd accept to see him lose World's if it's to Mateusz - I really think he deserves that trophy at least once.
Strongman is such an interesting sport cause I’m excited to see these competitions, but I don’t even know who I’m rooting for. All the competitors are so likable.
I did a prediction on all the events and the points came out to the following: 1 - Hooper 46 2 - Thor 45 3 - Licis 41 4 - Mateusz 38 5 - Tom 30 6 - Novikov 30
