The Mathews Halon X is new for 2016. Originally the Halon X was produced as a Hunting 3D bow by Mathews with an axle to axle length for 35" and a IBO speed of 330fps. However follow the success of indoor and target shoots by Mathews shooter the Halon X gained a following by target archers.
We look at the Halon X - the three colours it is available in, compare it to the TRG and Conquest bows. Shoot it through the Chronograph then shoot the bow at 18 metres.

This bow is a pleasure to shoot, brings together a lot of the fine tuning Mathews have been doing with their engineering development over the past few years.

Love your reviews! Just picked this bow up for half price"US dollars"!! I've been wanting this one for a while. Local shop lost contract with Mathews so they have a bunch on sale. Walked in and there it was. Super excited!

the bow was made in a 37" for halon x pro and I like the 35 for 3d and hunting cross over

you are incorrect.. this bow is listed on both the competition and hunting sections of their bow lists.. probably should have checked that before claiming that mathews was confused on what this bow is

Great video. Looks like the video issues all resolved and better quality up to 1080. I noticed that someone poked his head in the 19min mark from the side door in the indoor range, and also shooting at what looks like a pile of trash as a target instead of the usual block in outdoor. Good stuff :D

Yep just changed the video width. The plastic trash is compressed plastic, great to shoot into. They are going to be my outdoor targets. Thanks

Video quality - I have 2 options - one upload take 24 hours, the other take 10 hours. I will have to check the difference on TV. Thanks

why is this bow shooting so slow compared to the halon x comp in your reviews. the halon x comp is doing somewhere around 25 fps faster. assuming the draw weight was the same for the 2 bows as well as the same weight arrow. would just like to know why thanks

I love the Halon X. All bows tend to be good. The Chill X is a really good bow which has been around for a long time. The Australian female compound champion shoots a Chill X and her dad shoots a Halon X.

Whats the difference between the conquest 4 and the earlier conquest bows? I couldnt find much difference at all. Only asking because I had a conquest 2 before I bought the bowmadness epix

which bow could you shoot with fingers

For finger shooting you want the longest bow possible and the less let off - this will stop finger pinch from the angle on the string and the let off will help in the release. There are not many finger compounds on the market today. I think Hoyt has one. Bow I sell for 2016 for Fingers - Mathews Conquest 4, maybe Mathews TRG, Darton 40" target bow, maybe the Win and Win 40" Dragon Fly. You may get away with the PSE Xpression with 65% modules fitted.
