So grateful for this. Would you believe, this song is rarely sung in XFactor or the Voice of Italy competitions. It is technically too difficult. She is, with Giuni Russo, and Mina of course, the most amazing voice we have had in Italy

Matia Bazar started in the mid 1970's as a band that made typically Italian pop music, melodic but elegant love songs, but with a touch of modernity to it. They enjoyed broad success in Italy, and they made the charts but never topped them. Antonella Ruggiero's voice, with its exceptional extension, terse yet powerful, were their distinctive feature from the start. Most representative songs from this period are "C'è tutto un mondo intorno", "Solo tu", "Cavallo bianco", Tu semplicità", "Mister mandarino" and more. In the early 1980's they realised they were becoming outdated and underwent an important change of style; the main songwriter left the band to pursue a solo career, much in their old style, without much success, and was replaced with a new keyboardist. Their music took an electronic turn, still melodic but much less traditional. Out of that came a series of songs that, although not experimental, sounded contemporary, and innovative, especially by Italian standards, managing to contemporary yet elegant and sophisticated, with Antonella Ruggiero's voice still a big plus. Lots of good songs from this period: besides "Ti sento", "Noi", "Vacanze romane", "Aristocratica", "Dieci piccoli indiani", ballads such as "Vaghe stelle dell'orsa" and "Souvenir"; more on techno side, "Fantasia", "Il video sono io", "Elettrochoc", "Aria" and so on.
And for those who might have had any doubt Antonella Ruggiero live sounds exactly like this no technical tricks she's truly an amazing singer with excellent technique and infinite talent... this song is so timeless it could have come out recently in fact smart dj and producer Bob Sinclair came ouf lasf month with a remastered version 😊
It's a shame the only Matia Bazar song that was heard in Spain was "Solo tu" in 1981, and Antonella's special tone of voice was already intuited. We couldn't hear "Ti sento" in Spain until many years later.

I'm italian too, imo Elisa has an amazing voice and she's also a wonderful human being, so talented but so humble and nice. Her laught make my day (as sia's laught 😊). At the beginning of her career Elisa sang in english, type "the waves" in YT, she's insane, trust me !
Antonella Ruggiero is a natural phenomenon, even now. No tricks or technological help, her live concerts give the same result as the songs recorded in the studio. I am pleased that young people, not only Italians, can discover and appreciate this great artist. P.S. The songs of her group, Matia Bazar, are also aging well and can give many recent songs a run for their money. 😎
im a spaniard and been a fan of italian music more so than english , there are so great artist like mila, milva, toto contugno , andriano etc. and im classical rock fan of pink floyd genesis, procol harem etc. italian music is on another level because that language is beautiful and is meant to be sung. italian music is for the heart and spanish music is for dancing.

Ovviamente a che Antonella aveva una grande estensione ma non come quella della Russo... Io NON POSSO che raccomandarti di ascoltare e recensire l'altra hit e capolavoro senza tempo: VACANZE ROMANE! Sarai sbalordito ed affascinato. I was like you when I first heard this a couple of years back, an instant favourite, I wish I had known about it at the time, and had it on repeat for weeks, I love that it sounds like a rising crescendo all the way through, that's a very positive musical trick. As an italian guy I can tell you: this is our national anthem as "my hart will go on" is canadian's, so...not really, no. This was the first song of Matia Bazar where Antonella did her best as a powerful singer, she's great and the song was a good success, I'm glad you appreciate it too 👍👍👍

In the 70ies in Italy there was an incredible progressive movement, unknown abroad because not sung in English, but at the level of Genesis and other top names of the period. And Matia Bazar took that school, but a more pop vibe. And Antonella is still now one of the best voices in the world. Maybe you don't know that Ti Sento was One of Freddie Mercury's most beloved songs... Unfortunately she decided to have a quiter life to raise her child, and to follow smaller jazz projects. But her voice Is still simply amazing. Look also for duet between Antonella and Subsonica, a cover of Matia Bazar in a more contemporary dance mood. Antonella is a national treasure and somehow we are happy that global fame has not stolen her from us. She is a great artist who prefered good life and quality music, than the spotlight of international fame. But she could have been one of the most important vocalist of our age, indisputably... ❤❤❤
