I mean to be absolutely fair Every time I see his videos she only talks from the sidelines and never comes on screen if she has then let this be null and void but if she hasn't how are people supposed to know really who she is
@@GRiM-X on GTLIVE she was right next to MatPat and doing the same thing he did until for some reason(I don't know why) she wasn't doing it anymore and went to being on the sidelines, I didn't really research it, that's all I know.
There is never a moment when i watch matpat's videos with Steph in them and have not noticed her saying something that adds to the conversation in any of the videos
Not just that, a good dude. Sure he isn’t perfect but the man needs some praise for the stuff he does right and just overall being a RU-vidr with little to no skeletons in his closet.
@@Qoobon_ jeez i was just trying to help, i was obsessed with matpat until i found out about the autism speaks stuff so now i just don’t want other people to feel that kind of hurt
That's a good man right there. He understands that he's the face of the channel but Steph is just as equal as he is. He wants her to be heard as well. Most partners would just stay quiet and not let it bother them, but not MatPat, he defends her. "Listen to her ideas as much as mine." He's a keeper, Steph.
@@soonaheroI don't understand why more and more tiktok undergraduate using this uncomplete and unfinished sentence structure. Why you start your sentence with "I mean" when you hadn't saying anything yet?
@@valhatan3907 it’s a colloquial metaphor. It’s used to identify the antecedent as his speech. Without it, instead of correcting him/me disagreeing (which is the proper comprehension) it would be miscommunicated as me ADDING the idea into the conversation. Here’s an example Speaker 1: Usain Bolt is slow. Speaker 2: I mean, he’s fast. Versus Speaker 1: Usain Bolt is cool. Speaker 2: he’s fast, too. One is disagreeing/correcting, one isn’t. Here, the anime pfp is claiming step his just as equal as matpat is. I disagreed/reinforced the difference in our stances, as opposed to just sharing mine.
@858hj that’s just unimportant because that labor is fungible. She’s like an untrained and bad lawyer, his alternative is hiring someone trained and competent. Yeah she saved mat a little money but not with her spending habits. But Matpat is not fungible, no matpat meant no game theory. If one’s replaceable and one’s not, one’s not equal
You can hear the quiver of emotion in his voice when he's talking. You can tell this means so much to him. Steph is an equal and he wants everyone to know that.
I think the video actually focuses on that fact that she is *not* an equal, she is different in almost every way and because of that is overlooked despite being comparably valuable
@@Patrick-zr8tv not being heard doesn’t just include when you are having a conversation. It includes asking for help to. So yes, r@pe does count as not being heard.
I remember in the 10 years of game theory special Steph had mentioned that sometimes she signs emails with Matt's name because she's never taken as seriously as him, and that makes me really sad honestly
That's so heartbreaking, the real theorist fans love and respect steph. People have no idea the amount of work it takes to make the kind of content they do. Without steph there probably wouldn't even be The Game Theorists
There’s a reason it’s game theorists, film theorists and food theorists. It’s a community, and it isn’t just mat in the centre. It’s his team and those who aid and nurture it to bring the best of the best theories to the internet for our viewing pleasure.
Yeah it’s kinda similar with Mr beast where him being the face automatically makes him all anyone talks about but the people that he works with are obviously very important as well and he couldn’t have executed his ideas without them.
It's familiarity Bias. It happen to everyone. It's never about the idea but the massager. If you know the massager, even a bad idea can be accepted. Just look at politics.
Matpat seems like a very good guy in general The only controversies I remember him ever being in were basically him making some outlandish theories and people getting mad at him for talking about how the diversity in overwatch is good
@@oliviashearer Basically, Steph decided to not be on the couch for GTLive anymore so she could focus more on the business side of things and spending time with Ollie.
You can just hear the heartbreak and emotions in Matt's voice Edit this is the most amount of likes I ever had on a comment I believe but anyway thanks so much for the likes
You just know Ollie is gonna grow up to be one of the nicest men you’ll ever have the pleasure of meeting. Both of his parents are so sweet and kind and genuine.
Your parents aren’t your only influence, and we don’t know how his parents are in real life. They only share their good side and so anything bad isn’t displayed
Nah on GTLive You hear how matpat treats Ollie plus you can see him sometimes during their testings on like food theory and such. He is gonna be a good hearted kid. Only thing I fear is how people would treat him, Having Matpat as a dad is cool but I'm sure kids would pick on Ollie just for that, Teen years gonna be hard for sure.
Matpat, as a person, seems like a really kind and caring person. Social media just sorta, treats him like some supervillain hell bent on some agenda to be the next Hitler or something
All the “controversies” that MatPat is in is usually rather trivial or just stupid. Yes, he makes some mistakes here and there, and yes, he makes content primarily targeting children, but I’ve seen many people unreasonably over blow stuff just to attack him (for clout I assume, considering Matt is such a big name).
@@marker52 - Best example is the bs towards his big Undertale theory than the stupid backlash he got just from talking about giving a copy of the game to the at the time current pope. He admitted in another video that what he got from the latter one was so bad that he was actually scared to post another video talking about anything related to the game. This and Josh Scorcher revealing that people get crap by hardcore fans over “not playing the game right” has turned me off on playing the game. Why bother when no matter what I do, I’m going to get harassed for it by the toxic part of the fanbase?
It really sucks. I think that people that don't like his content (which in itself is fine) have this problem of trying to nitpick every petty mistakes he's made. Even major ones where he's in the wrong he has apologized, sincerely, and made multiple steps to correct it. I think people just want to see someone they don't like fail even though said person hasn't done stuff to warrant it
But he never really does as to why they do that im not justifying those rude individuals but If he doesn't give her credit how will they it all stems from him not telling people how much work they do in his channels
@@snakeeatingapringle0 some people just take his theories too seriously. He makes a theory that they disagree with they get mad about it for some reason.
@@thewolfking3054 cause they show how he thinks and how he thinks is frequently dumb. Seems like a decent guy though- I certainly don’t hate him. I just question people who think he’s got good ideas or creative insight. Especially since there are many channels in many hobbies that should be receiving the views and respect he commands in the space, and the algorithm is unfortunately mutually exclusive (because the folks that watch it are). Not his fault though, it’s weird if that’s all people actually don’t like him over.
@@snakeeatingapringle0 As I understand it, there's been a few things he's said in his videos that have been a bit tone deaf or came off in sort of bad taste. One I remember off the top of my head was comparing FNAF to an actual real life murder case. I don't think he was ever being downright malicious, though.
Now that's actual male allyship right there. Raise up women's voices. Be her hype man. As a woman, it can be so hard to even get your foot in the door, so men open the door for women (metaphorically).
@instantchaos2385 this happens to women specifically all the time, it isn't just people seeing Matt as the face of the channel it also has to do with people not respecting Stephanie because she is a woman. This is one of the clearest ways misogyny affects women, women don't get heard and women aren't respected in the workspace because people view women as lesser. Matt is a true mvp because he sees people doing this too his partner and it angers him, he just wants his partner to be respected in their company equally.
@@veggiemonkie5041 not many people know that Stephanie exists because not many people watch enough to know she is there. So people think she isn't a part of the channel at all. It isn't misogyny, it's people not knowing of her.
She is seen as her own person but they more than likely watched the show for Matt and were focused on the conversation with him and didn’t hear what she said. Keep in mind he said this was at a party where there is music and plenty of loud noises to drown out the sounds of someone talking especially if they aren’t loud enough.
Adding to the full episode this is from. It goes deeper than that. These parties weren't house party shindigs. They were business affairs and she's CEO. What Mat's getting at here which so many comment threads are missing is she was being ignored as a business consultant. Business consultancy was their main financial turn over. The channels were half engagement, half advertising their knowledge. Anthony even mentions working with Mat as a consultant for Smosh. In some ways on a practical level, she's Mat's boss. In others she's equal share co-owner. Being his wife economic reality wise should have little to do with it.
How’s a perfect time for me to say Steph should get her own channel. It could be gaming, theories whatever she just needs more time on video I love watching her in these videos she is hilarious
Steph is so important to the channels and has brought us endless entertainment. Thank you MatPat for defending her, and thank you Steph for all you have done for us
That’s sweet that he felt like that because there are many men who don’t care that they’re wives are being over looked because they actually feel like a wife should be seen and not heard which is so messed up.
@@Tzavaot they ain't wrong tho, they didn't say all men did they? The frequency of which it happens is higher than one might expect. It's like saying that there are more female gold diggers than male ones. That's not a bash at women nor is it saying that men are more morally sound. Stop being so sensitive
Can we just appreciate how good of a husband MatPat is? Like in general he's a great guy. Does charity, works hard on videos to make people happy and help them learn in a fun way, spreads positive messages and important news but he's also just such a great husband. You can tell by the way he looks at and interacts with her that he absolutely adores her and whenever he talks about her it's just so clear that he loves and respects her. Find yourself a partner like MatPat, you all deserve a MatPat
As a parent, this is an example of exactly why I actually repeatedly suggest his channels to my pre-teen son. It doesn't diminish you to build up others.
@Alex Mercer completely true once your self substaning then you focus on community but people will fuck you over quick and leave you in the mud while they count their millions look at the creation of face book friends with a good idea and the potential to make billions now all owned and attributed to the man that went behind his friends back
Stephanie is such a W so loyal to Mat and you can see that she also likes to give her input on the theories sometimes which is very cool that both of them are interested in the same thing and it’s very sad that they don’t take her seriously because the GTLive streams with both of them are amazing
STEPH IS LITERALLY A QUEEN AND I CANNOT EXPLAIN HOW MUCH I LOVE HER PARTICIPATION IN THE CHANNEL 😭😭 this makes me so sad to hear she has never deserved to be overlooked
Steph is fucking amazing, anyone who says otherwise is full of shit. She does so much and the best live streams include her, she's an integral part of the show
For some time I was gonna leave the channel, and then Steph brought such energy to the show I just couldn't believe it. The more I watch the more thankful I am that Steph brought that energy and comedy and kept me around. It's also beautiful to see that mat is in tears over people overlooking his partner
You can hear the anger, frustration, and heartbreak in his voice 💔 Stephanie is an importation part of the channel, just as important as Matthew. Why did those people treat her like that 😢
Steph and Mat seem like not only such smart, hardworking people, but you can tell that they actually care for each other and for their channels. They’re so great
Bro, I agree a ton! Stephanie is probably the only one keeping Mat sane, she's so crucial to the channels, all 5 of them. Yes, 5, because you gotta remember GTLive. Real fans love Steph just as much as Mat.
That's what we women go through. We are ignored. Our ideas are ignored. Our input is ignored. It's in all facets of our lives. I remember one time with a very misogynistic DM, I said something about a piece of armor I researched online and he said I was wrong. I went to the bathroom and my husband said the same thing and the DM said he was right. We dropped the group that evening, after my husband told me
I dont think its about her being a woman. But i will not deny that there may be a small minority that ignores her because she's a woman. I think it more has to do with the fact that matts literally the voice and face of the theory chammels that he manages/hosts. The only way you'd get to know stephanie is thru gtlive (until she stopped regularly joining the streams) or the theory here she joins in to discuss. Its too far few for people to know who she is. What matpat says here is more the result of stephanie not being represented enough in the channel for people to recognize her. If she was the host of game theory and the other channels instead, i have no doubt matt would be going through the same thing
Look misogyny is a problem but this is not it. It’s because he’s the face of the channel. The male partners of big female youtubers have the same problem. No one cares about the spouse. It’s unfortunate but people are just respectful to prominent figures, sometimes it’s not even genuine but that’s the attention we give to celebrities. And youtubers as big as MatPat are in fact, celebrities.
No that is what EVERY GENDER goes through. Stop trying to turn this into a thing about sexism, Women are treated just as well as men if not better in todays society
Just the fact he even noticed it, and is aware it's an issue, he's a keeper 🙏 I hope Stephanie is doing better and is now being heard and not just ignored
I may not like most of matpat's videos, but it's hard to find a more caring loving person on the internet. From how he talks to his wife, to his stories about his son, it's very obvious. He's such a standup guy, I only wish him the best.
The genuine heartbreak and sadness in his voice to spread his love for his wife is the kindest and most compassionate thing he is doing for her. Matt is super awesome!
People don't listen to someone they don't know or care about when the main person who is the face of everything is right there. As fucked up as it is that's the reality.
